Re: How many crabs can I put into a 29 gallon tank?

Alright, thank you guys so much! I will definitely be planning on adopting two more PPs! I especially want to get more because my crabs seem very lonely, while the other one is molting, so I want them to be able to have some friends! Thank you again!

How many crabs can I put into a 29 gallon tank?

Hey, so I have two small PPs in a 29 gallon tank, and I wanted to try to adopt some more. Would I be able to fit two more crabs comfortably in the tank? The tank is properly set up, and it has about 6"-7" of substrate. I'm thinking of remodeling the tank before I adopt, such as adding another inch o...

Re: Possible attack on molting crab

Oh, I guess that is true. This is my 3rd molt in my first two months of owning them. Just for both of them, they actually both came back up from where they dug down. This may just be because they were in a 10 gallon last molt, so they didn't have much room. But both molts, they came back to the surf...

Re: Possible attack on molting crab

Hey, thanks for replying so quickly! I actually just checked my crabitat, and Ollie is back on the surface, eating! So I guess I just panicked. This post is kind of useless, should I delete it, or just leave it be? And like you said, it is probably from the stress. Now that Ollie is up on the surfac...

Possible attack on molting crab

Hey, so I need some help! I have two PPs, and one may be attacking the other, while she is molting! What happened was that I wasn't smart enough to keep my non molting crab in an iso tank. The both crabs are small, and their names are Ollie and Sebastian, Ollie just finished molting. Ollie had a ver...

Re: Help keeping in humidity/ Crabitat setup

I would think it is okay, and it is very similar to the moss I purchased, but I am not 100% positive that it is safe for hermit crabs. Before you buy it, I would suggest researching the moss, and see if you can find more in depth details about the moss. If it is organic, or free of dyes, I would say...

Re: Two 50lb bags of sand enough for 29 gallon?

Well I just upgraded to a 29 gallon tank, about four to five weeks ago, and I'm hoping I can shed some light on this topic, with my experience. So I bought the coco fiber bricks as well, and I bought one bag of 50lb play sand. I wanted a 1:1 ratio, with a substrate depth of 6-7 inches. I started wit...

Re: PP Switched Shells-Now Naked!

Thanks, I actually bought the Flukers Turtle Medley, that has freeze dried river shrimp, crickets, and meal worms from Petsmart for about $5. It is a good amount, that will last me for a while. But now that I know I can get the shrimp from Walmart, I will definitely do that in the future. So far Oll...

Re: Help keeping in humidity/ Crabitat setup

Hello! Welcome to the HCA! I was in the exact same situation as you, about a week ago. My humidity in my tank was around 70%, and I wanted to get it up higher, without having to mist my tank every few hours. I am on a budget, so I was asking people for the best way to keep constant humidity, with ou...

Re: PP Switched Shells-Now Naked!

Alright, so I have come to the conclusion that she is molting. I would not have even thought of that, because to my knowledge, she finished molting about three or four weeks ago. For a small hermit crab, is it possible for them to molt more than once, in a time span of a month and a half? I know sma...

Re: PP Switched Shells-Now Naked!

Hey, thank you both for your suggestions. I am more worried now, Sebastian did not come to the surface once last night. I smoothed the substrate around the food dishes, and they were not touched! I don't think she is molting, because she finished molting about three weeks ago! And for the food, I kn...

PP Switched Shells-Now Naked!

Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me out with my situation! Basically, up front, my hermit crab switched shells, and then left his new shell, resulting in a naked crab. So yesterday morning, I noticed that my hermit crab's shell was in a corner of the tank. I noticed it was empty, so I checked unde...
