Re: I can't handle it anymore!

So happy he is up and getting back to normal! My attackee is getting gel limbs so should be going down soon. Thanks for the great info and outcome. It gives me hope!

I think my new E's are going into their own tank.

Re: Molting disaster

Just my opinion, but I think you need to leave him completely alone for now. I have living proof that after their molt, they just hang out in their cave until they are ready to come out. I have a molter in a window by the glass in my 55, and I keep expecting him to come up. I can see every detail of...

Re: Super frustrated!! Temp/humidity battle!

Do you have moss pits? I have big bubbling pools and 3 moss pits and my humidity is always TOO high, and I have to vent it.

Re: crab-sitting...CRAB MOLTED!

I didn't see anyone mention it but your heating pad should be in the back of the tank, if you haven't already moved it.

Great job with your adopted crabs!

How long for gel limbs to form?

Curious, those of you who have had crabs with limbs missing: how long did it take for gel limbs to appear?

And how long after that for the first molt?

Thanks!

....to happily set your alarm for 4 am so you can hand feed your injured crab before you leave for work.

Re: Molting under surface?

If he hasn't moved at all, I would think it would be unlikely that he is molting, don't you? I have never seen a crab stay in one spot for very long. They dig down here, and I see them through a window by the glass, then they are gone again. Since you have been through so many molts, I would say to ...

I am amazed too at how quickly they go down to molt again. Must be an instinct that tells them to get back in the game so they can live to fight again!

Pics of attacked molter - first time out and feeding!

If you have been following my post about my attacked molter who was left shell-less and with only 3 legs left, who I found down in a hole buried alive, and who valiantly dug her way out to cry for help, here she is! She came out of her shell finally, and drank and ate: http://i624.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Molting crab in uncovered hole!

This is definitely a case of an attack by another crab. It happens occasionally. The active crab(s) go digging, knowing they might find a molter (in other words, a tasty snack), and once they do, they rip it from it's shell, which results in missing legs, eat it's exo if it is still there, and steal...
