What's he tryna do?

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? 20g EE 5-6in 10g EE and Sand 4-5in 2.5g EE 3in 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read? The 20 gallon and the 10 gal...

This thread may help ease your worry on metal and rust: http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=79277 . ;) Still. If you don't know exactly what the metals made of, according to this, then use caution. Hermie mommy of 7 PP babies: Octavius Flemming, Junior, Matty Pumpkin, Bruiser...

Re: Coconut castle DIY

So I decided to go for the craft wire... I figured it may hold it together better then hemp... but I could always change it later if I need to... so this is what I picked up. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/23/3791bf220098dfe6b47d429cbeb6c139.jpg if it's any sort of metal then you really sh...

Re: Coconut castle DIY

This thread may help ease your worry on metal and rust: http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=79277 . Though you could certainly just use hemp or jute rope or any other crab safe item to tie them together. ;) All-natural wax free hemp is perfectly safe and a great alternative t...

Re: It's fall and I can't stabilize my tank!!

Also if it's a "under tank heater" then why is it not, in fact, supposed to be “under the tank”?

Re: It's fall and I can't stabilize my tank!!

Confused lol. Do you mean you have the heater on the bottom of the tank (underneath it) or along the bottom on the backside of the tank? Either way the heater needs to be on the backside of the tank above the substrate line to benefit the crabs. Heaters aren't meant to get through that much sub and...

It's fall and I can't stabilize my tank!!

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? A: Both my 2.5g ISO and 20g main have EcoEarth. The 2.5 has about two inches and the 20g has about 4" 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humid...

Re: did i cook my crab by accident?

With the possibility of mold/bacteria and a possible tank failure like collapse in the future or escape hole I'd either get a new tank or doing a deep clean and patching up the current crack. AFTER, of course, finding out what's up with your hermit first!!

Re: It's fall and I can't stabilize my tank!!

I did a deep clean in the ISO that she's in with brand new EE, clean fresh water and fresh food. She's still moving inside her shell but not going anywhere else. I have a heater along the whole bottom and even with styrofoam and a microwaved towel and rice bag covering it (I gotta re-heat them about...

Re: Help finding a top for my 55 gallon aquarium??

I just ordered my mesh 12x30" lid from petsolutions.com it came packed in a huge box with lots of paper padding and FRAGILE written all over it which I'm sure helped with it's safe arrival. It was $11 which I ordered with a couple other things that were packed similarly in a separate package. The sh...

I'm not sure how it happened but I'm keeping her in ISO with 70° heat (idk the humidity I have yet to buy one for this tank but it has condensation) it has mixed Eco earth and crabitat sa...

Re: It's fall and I can't stabilize my tank!!

Thanks. I have a towel over the ISO and secondary newbie ISO tank, that's helping is stay around 70°-72° It's hard to keep it warm when they are so close to the foundation during freezing weather like it has been this fall. I will look into the heat lamp. What wattage should I use for a 2.5 gallon a...

It's fall and I can't stabilize my tank!!

I have three tanks (20 gallon for general population, one for new recruits and another for molters) and its fall now and my tank is by the drafty area by the hall to the door and that's the only place for them. It's been a constant battle with the heat in the big 20 gallon for about a week now so I ...
