Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

Thing 1 is back up for molt. Intrestingly they only showed minor intrest in the shells. Now I do cycle through a bag of shells so maybe none in this group intrest them or thet are fine in their current shells. Other than poking at them once or twice they are ignoring them

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

Not under context of the experiment. If you follow it. Ypu get 2 full days with shells and 5 days without is the idea. A Friday night to Sunday Morning. A Thrusday to Saturday. Or whatever two days you choose. Anything else introduces to many variables. We can only focus on one at a time. You howev...

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Not under context of the experiment. If you follow it. Ypu get 2 full days with she...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

I wish your E would come teach mine how to change shells- they’re killlllking me!!! I still have 3 in their original little ‘buttcap’ while my other 2 have changed! And all 3 of @RiNiKy506’s have swapped too! Ugh. And they definitely have lots of options. So their pickiness makes me even more inter...

1. Hermit Sand, if it is the sand often sold by pet stores is calcium sand and is not safe for hermits. It not only molds, but stinks when wet and hardens to cement around the crabs themselves, sticking to them. Children's Playsand (silica based) or cocofiber, or a mix of the two, in a 5:1 mixture ...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

My only thing is I currently have only one crab. I'm worried that will mess with results but then again I guess it's a form of control for shell competition idk So I'll do it if you think that'll be okay, it sounds fun! I'm just bad at committing lol I don't know if I'll remember to record it every...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

I'm in, interested to see if it will make a difference. My crabs rarely show interest in their shells, so it will be interesting to see if any differences develop. Colony Size - around 6 to 8 crabs. A couple have the same size and shell, so a little hard for me to keep track at times. Species - 1 C...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

Just put my shells in. Only one of my guys is up tonight at this moment. More intrested in hanging around on his climbing net than the shells at the moment. No PPs in sight, but that is not unusual they come out a little later.
