Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

I have more shells than I do tank space, so I tend to swap them around once every few months. The crabs will occasionally check out suitable shells once added but otherwise show no aggression, stress, or changes in behavior. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Which is a good control group. Not tryi...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

I’ve already removed my shells since I’ve read your topic. Lol. I have more shells on the way as well. Also toying with polishing shells. What would be real cool is if you could put one big shell in there and they’d all line up. Not sure if possible in captivity. Not sure it’s ok to try either. Sen...

Re: Something Intresting

I am moving this discussion to a new made thread found here: The Shell Removal Experiment so that the introduction post and people participating will be easier to keep track of. I am afraid that as time goes if the topic gets bigger some information might be lost.

The Shell Removal Experiment

This is a continuation of the Something Interesting topic I created on Sun Feb 02, 2020 8:04 am. As the experiment has provided decent interest, I decided to organize it a bit more to make things easier to follow before they get to buried in ever ones comments. The Theory: In their natural environme...

Re: Something Intresting

That's an interesting thought. That if there is a surplus of shells, the crabs don't change as often because they are not worried about growing and having no shells available after a molt. Sent from my cp3705AS using Tapatalk That was the reason I started this little idea. I have been keeping track...

Re: Something Intresting

I really like this idea. I'm going to start. With the minimal amount of shells I have that AREN'T buried. Ugh. Maybe they'll dig up some shells. So, once a week you put them back in? For how long? So yes please let me know. Sorry for bacl to back posts I primarily use my phone. And sometimes I hit ...

Re: Something Intresting

My current experiment I have running is: Put shells in 3-5 per crab Friday night when I feed them. Remove them Sunday Morning when I remove fresh food. This gives them roughly a 48 hour period to explorenand interact with the shells. I have been documenting it here every Friday and Sunday. I have 4 ...

My E inspectrd and tried on a shell but switched back. The two smaller ones tend to cone out at night and showed no intrest. Loke I said I am...

Re: Methane Blue

Shrimp are now so inbred that a small parameter shift can kill off an entire colony while in the past, wasn't much of an issue. So if it can hold up on shrimp, I think it will likely be fine for our hermies. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk The thing is, why the manufacturer if some bottles say...

Any insect that someone says is their pet is off-limits.
