Re: No activity?
I did a deep clean today - removing decor, filling holes. I found one empty shell that I am pretty sure belonged to a crab. Our tiny one is capable of hiding way back in his shell unnoticed, but I think this shell is too heavy for him. No signs of the other 3, but I smoothed out the top so hopefully...

No activity?
For the past month my crabs have showed no sign of activity. Food is ignored, water never has signs of dirt (or poop). The moss hasn't been thrown around, no new holes. Prior to this a few weeks I only had one of my four crabs above ground. I don't know if I assume death, or what?

Re: How much fiber with how much sand?
In my 20 gallon tall tank I mixed a 50lb bag of play sand and 2 bricks of ecoearth. I'm not sure what kind of ratio that is, but it gave me approximately 7 inches of height.

Re: Insulation and Humidity Question
With my tank, I have two uth heaters - one on the back, one on one side. The one on the side I can't insulate, but I have the other insulated with foil, foil wrapped cardboard, and then foam posterboard over the entire back, as well as around the substrate on all sides. Then I have a screen lid and ...

Re: Hanging partially out of shell
It ranges 75-95 currently. Warmer by the heaters, cooler on the glass farthest away from them

Re: Hanging partially out of shell
She moved back in some when I lifted the lid, so I'm assuming not limply? She ended up in the water bowl last night before bed (first time I've actually seen on IN the bowl), and now she's in her shell but still by the heater. Heat is back up, but it's still cold and snowy outside, so I'm thinking i...

Hanging partially out of shell
One of my crabbies is up and she's hanging partially out of her shell (alive, she went in more when I opened the lid) by the heater. Is it pretty safe to assume she's just cold? We have had a few days of cold rain and now it's snowing, so the room temp dropped a bit. I'm working on getting the heat ...

Second tank/iso questions
I've been scouring the local pages here for a good deal on a second, smaller tank for an iso (hard to do since we have a 20 g, most people are getting rid of 50+ here). I need a smaller one for it to fit next to our current. However, I'm not sure what to do with it once I get it. There are no pet st...

Re: Two months later, they're causing trouble
How do you smooth the top without risking burying/collapsing? My teeny guy never finishes a cave. He always uses either a decoration or a pool as the top of his cave. I think it's because he always chooses such big shells for his size.

Two months later, they're causing trouble
We've had our crabs for two months now. All 4 have successfully molted, and now they have started destroying the tank, constantly! I can only assume this is a good sign. Shells have been flung across the tank. Moss is strung all over. They're starting to bury food. There's hardly a spot on the surfa...
