Re: Moss and Bugs
I have the air pump for fish, from our previous journey with fish. I just need a new hose for it. Also, continuing on my question with bugs, if you know the dirt roly poly bugs are in has been sprayed (I think insecticide and weed killer), but hasn't for at least a year, would you consider them safe...

Re: Moss and Bugs
It's the sphagnum moss. I guess I'll have to try soaking it for a bit again and see how that helps. I'm in the Nebraska panhandle, and unless it's actively raining, our humidity is quite low.

Moss and Bugs
I've got a couple questions Is there a way to help keep moss wet without constantly having to spray it? I need to rewet ours twice a day for it to stay wet. I have a feeling this is going to get worse in the summer as heat goes up. Secondly, what bugs can be put in the crabitat? I know roly poly bug...

Re: Just a little story
Considering my daughters are 5 & 2, I knew when starting they're my responsibility. She just gets the bragging rights. Teeny was out tonight and crawled up my husband's jacket sleeve. That's the first time he's been able to socialize with any of them. He tried showing me that he was out, and T...

Just a little story
The hermies we have were for my daughter's birthday in March. 3/4 molted pretty much right away, and the last is down molting now. One of them may be molting again, and the other two tend to alternate being awake and up at our bedtime. Basically, she has pets she rarely gets to see. Sebastian was up...

Re: Buried crab
Ok. I just thought I'd ask since the top of his hole was buried by another crab. I haven't touched him

Buried crab
My teeny guy always buries himself leaving the top open, but underneath a fake plant. Well I was moving stuff around changing water, etc and my biggest one buried him in the hole. Should I dig him out?

Re: One month
We have two coming up! I've finally figured out the one is Sebastian, and I know the other is Teeny - so the two smallest are the ones up. Sebastian wouldn't come out of his shell anywhere near us. http://i.imgur.com/SwebGCh.jpg This was the best shot I could get of him. :hlol: From what I can tell,...

I can't tell - she skitters away and hides in her shell when I try to look.

One month
We have been crabbing for a month and two days now. It seems like it's been forever though because it's very rare we even see one. There's one that's been coming up at bedtime, I assume she's up from molting, but I have no idea how to actually tell, but she's smaller than she was. I have three more ...

Re: Need Some Heating Help!
I had heat problems as well. I insulated my tank where I could. I have one heater I can't insulate, so I insulated under it and around the substrate on the front and other side, and my entire back over the ultratherm. I also have a wire mesh lid that I covered with foil and two folded towels to fina...

A couple molt questions
I've had my crabs since 3-5. Two of them (Belle and Sebastian) went down on the 7/8 without switching shells, my teeny guy switched shells and went down a couple days later, and the 4th one (Jasmine) played on the surface at night, and dug down in the day, switching shells often. My largest one, Bel...

Re: Longest/shortest time under?
93 Days! That's crazy! lol. Mine are all pretty small. I think one is micro, one is teeny, and the other two are small, I believe. I haven't really had much opportunity to measure them. Two of them disappeared shortly after getting them. The other two only recently went under.

Longest/shortest time under?
What's the longest and shortest time a new crab has been under and still came back up alive? Yesterday's food dish had no movement and no sand on it, so I'm thinking all ours are officially stuck under, hopefully molting. I know crab to crab the time spent under varies greatly. I'm just curious. :cr...
