Total loss of all zoea/mega. No idea really what happened they just didn't progress to mega and those that did failed to thrive.
This attempt is done and dusted.

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
The first spawning seem so be doing really well so that’s good. On day 6 I had only lost 13 out of 432 so I was really surprised. This morning they were mid shed to mega. A day later than normal but water temp has been 27c instead of 28 so that is likely the reason for the delay. Sent from my iPhone...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
Did a BIG water change in jar 1. Then discovered that the new salt water had not had the filter or heater on in the bucket. Salinity is down to 1.020 instead of 1.026 Water is whitish which indicated to me that the salt hadn't dissolved which is why I checked salinity. Turned the pump and heater on ...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
I am so sorry that happened, I hope they will spawn again for you. I know it doesn’t replace all of your hard work, they are such little miracles the captive bred babies, but hopefully you’ll have a lot of baby hermits. We’re rooting for you, sending lots of love. Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
These were from a spawning the following night and it was almost double the size of the first one. So gutted to have lost them.

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
Disaster today the jar that had the highest number of zoea in it broke and some ended up in the fresh water but the rest in the jar got inundated with fresh water as well. Possibly have about 50 out of 500 that might survive. The other 2 jars are doing ok. Mega tomorrow in the first jar ( I hope) ht...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
OK babies from early this year are now 5-7months old. Size ranges from 11.11mm opening with a leg span of 32mm to3.10mm opening with a leg span of 16mm BUT between 1 and 2:30 am this morning (2nd November) I had a female spawn more zoea. Today I transferred 431 zoea from my salt pool to my raising s...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
OK update. Batch #4 are now on day16 and I have 53 (I think) in the transition tank and none left in the jars. BUT only about 5 of them have gone to land and I can't see any of them now. Most have not yet ventured out of the water onto land at this stage. The 44 who are now in the juvenile tank are ...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
Relatively easy when transferring them by eye dropper into the raising situation. I use a straw and airline to get them out of the crabitat pool. Then I count as I put them from the bucket into the kriesel set up.

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
Batch #4 Well out of the 415 in one jar I have about 40 left. Massive losses overnight. Not sure if it was poor water quality or the fact that I forgot to put beta food in and the marine snow and rotifers was not enough to sustain them. The other jar is still looking OK though. Out of the 80 or so t...

Re: Aussie Zoea 2021
I also now have 31 juvenile crabs in their larger tank and an unknown number from batch #3 still in the transition tank. I’ve got babies everywhere. What a wonderful problem to have
