Oh, how a day can change....
Was having a bad day. Family politics really getting me down. But then. I went to check on my little tank, and guess what. TWO OF TWO IS UP FROM HIS MOLT!! He's my very first molter, I was so afraid he wouldn't make it, because the substrate was too shallow. But he's so much littler than the others,...

Re: New too Hermit crab owning
Hi, welcome to HCA! Check out the care sheets in the Crab Care section. I don't know how to link them, maybe someone can do that here? It looks like your new crabitat needs a little bit of work, but never fear, you've found a good group to help you. There's a lot of information to take in, but don't...

Re: My Crabbies are Inactive!!
If you don't mind filling out the help template, which is one of the threads near the top of the Emergency category, we can help review all of your tank conditions. Right off though, it looks like your crabitat needs to be a little warmer.

Re: Molter down 2 wks, but traveling in 3 days
You are very welcome, glad to be of help. :) Wondering a couple of things. Is this Nutcracker's first molt since November? And in the thinking out loud category, does his frequent switching of shells show he's not afraid to try anything new, or that he's still looking for the perfect shell? Hard to ...

Re: New Kids
I just wish my camera had better resolution. We got it originally to spy on the cats in the living room, to figure out which one was, um, being bad. Was fine for that. But, at night when it has to go to infrared, it's hard to tell which crab you're looking at. So even that might not help me, lol...

Re: Time to refinish the canopy.
I ran into a long screw problem like that once, and fixed it by putting some nuts all the way up the screw, effectively shortening the length of the threaded section of the screw. Just means the head of the screw sticks out a little bit on the back of the door.

Re: Lots of questions..
Apparently, the process used to distill water doesn't necessarily take everything out of the water. Which to me means they shouldn't be able to call it distilled water, because by definition it's supposed to be pure. What most folks find to be a better option is using a really good dechlorinater lik...
