Ordered some shells from this shop last week. They shipped the next day and arrived yesterday. Packaging was good so no chips or damage and the shells were as described. He's, no joke, tried on all but 5 shells in the tank. I've tried my cats with a leash and harness...lets just say that I 100% won't be trying that ever again [emoji38] but I know some do well with it...maybe worth a test. Mine have a tall cat tree with 4 perch levels and a few ground level scratching posts. But honestly, the things that get them racing...

Congrats on the adoption! S/he has such a cute face. :D Doesn't he? [emoji7] he's been shell shopping for like 30 minutes now...literally going one shell to the next as he can reach one from on top of the last lol he's switched to a magpie and back but seems to be paying the magpies the most attent...

Depends on the type of climbing background I'd think. What is it made of?

This dude is cracking me up! He's slowly exploring the depths of the tank under the corner shelves but almost every time I sneak over to check on him he scrambles to the glass and waves his antenna [emoji7] he doesn't seem skittish in the least which is kind of refreshing. I posted on Craigslist a few days ago about being able to adopt unwanted hermits in my area. I figured nothing would come of it but lo and behold...I just got back from picking up a new dude (or dudette...not sure yet). The girl said she got 2 in Panama City Beach in February and one just died...doe...

Maybe some thinner, deep Tupperware or..like spreadable butter/margarine containers? Something like that should give you the depth you want without a huge footprint. And others have mentioned craft mesh for ramps...very cheap, easy to use and won't take up much of any space on the sub. Zoo mom of 3 ...

I have both and have crabs that seem to favor one or the other...picky little bums [emoji36][emoji39]

^^I've thought the same about selling by shell type lol considering what I normally see sold as Fancy are the guys in Murex shells and they'll usually switch to the unfancy turbo anyway

I'm by no means an expert, so take this for what it's worth, but in the wild they may live in large colonies but they have miles and miles of beach with feet upon feet of sand in which to dig when they are molting. I'd guess they live in the above ground colonies for a "strength in numbers " kind of...

This morning one was passed out in the netting looking very awkward but hey...if they like it [emoji39]
