welcome! it sounds like you did very well keeping them for three years, everybody else i know who bought them from kiosks had their crabs die in the car ride home.

also i will tell you what you will need them for. carotene enriched foods keep their color up. calcium you can use especially after they molt along with letting them eat their old exoskeleton, because they lose 99% of their calcium when they molt. and protein you might need also in normal situations...

my power goes out alot, and since herrmit crabs need a humid environment, i am wondering what i would be able to do to keep the heat tropical, so they wouldn't die. would i bring them to my dad's lab, or is there something easier? i am asking what to do in the winter.

no don't use it! copper sulfate is poisonous to poor crabs! use the stuff in your kitchen.

are there any land hermit crabs in hawaii that i could look for? not to keep of course, but to catch and release? i know there are marine ones.

i was just wondering, since my six pets, including two crabs isn't enough, are there any creatures native to their habitat that they are used to that could live with them, that they get along with?

i used to live in hawaii! i was wondering if anybody knew if hermit crabs would like poi. if you don't know what it is, it is taro, a root grown in hawaii, and i think it is isn't very much processed. just look up poi if you don't know, and then once somebody finds out if it okay, please let me.

sounds like you did good enough research! and i know all the websites out there will tell you you need dechlorinated water, but if you have a water filterer, then you won't. you still will need a humidity guage, and a heater. Also i agree with crabber85, you need a tank/aquarium.
