Marshawn presents me with another big chance
So now marshawn pinch is molting, so i moved Dawn and Richirp Sherman. so now i have another chance at a successful molting experience. hopefully he doesn't take too long though, because he is on the big side. will have to order a pack of new massive shells, because after this molt i will have 2 jum...

my tarantula's crickets
I was wondering what kind of hunters hermit crabs can be. They eat meat and can be cannibals and have pinchers, so they can hunt right? my tarantula isn't eating his crickets right now, so i think he is getting ready to molt and will remove the crickets. my hamster, cat, and fish would catch them. f...

Molt or dropped leg?
first of all no estimating with hermit crabs, you should get guages and heating pads, that can be a killer, but a lot of the other stuff sounds fine. but make your substrate wet enough. other than that your crab is probably just doing a surface molt and needs for you to remove the other crabs.

Molt or dropped leg?
he could be doing a surface molt, so yes you should iso. But iso the ones that are molting, never the actual molter, cause that could kill the molter. A surface molt may signal that your substrate isn't deep enough, must be at least twice the height of your largest crab. Make sure to keep him in a d...

Successful first molt! Welcome back Renegade!
congrats, big time! That is something i still have to achieve, as you now know, i am now 0-1 with molting, but i am pretty sure it would have been successful if it weren't for him being eaten. But good job, a color that stays dark means that a hermit crab was fed a lot of carotene enriched foods and...

A dawn of a new era in my hermit crab history!

But i got them on friday and have got got the safe playsand in their crabitat, where they are being isoed until this saturday...

this is in honor of one of my two hermit crabs, one of the two creatures that brought me to this site, gave me an idea of what my career might be. Richard shermit russhell wilson was a very active hermit crab who came out of hiding every night, climbed to the top of the cage and tried to rip the top...

well what happened last night was so awful! I will never stop grieving over my long gone hermit crab! Yesterday i noticed that marshawn pinch's shell hadn't moved an inch since the night before, so i went to check on him and make sure he wasn't depressed about his friend molting and about his tempor...

Bury themselves...? Why?
welcome! unfortunately this is normal. pet stores do a poor job of taking care of their hermit crabs and not giving good enough conditions for molting, so by the time we get them they usual start molting. they molt or shed their exo underground and when they are doing this try not to disturb them. i...
