Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Thank you, fandt94. I'm really struggling with doubts today. Another one of those days in the process when I keep thinking, "Why did I ever think I could do this??" Ugh. I just need to keep trying. One foot in front of the other. My daughter's new business is wonderful. She opened a board game cafe ...

Re: Danys ?-Coenobita-breeding-thread

This thread is SO helpful!! Thank you, naalide. I can't believe, though, that I hadn't noticed all the new posts! I was missing out on so much good information!! Right now, I'm really struggling over what to do for the ones I have at megalopa stage. They are dying before taking shells. It looks like...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Day Thirty. Was gone for three days to attend the grand opening of my daughter's new business. My 22-year-old son was put in charge. He knows how important this is too me so agreed to do feeding and water changes. Unfortunately, he isn't as fanatical as I am, so there were losses, but I still have ...

Right near the end of the video, when he rights himself and turns to look right at me, with eyes so much wider apart than the stage five zoeae, THAT'S when I started crying. :D

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Thanks so much, everyone! It's really hard keeping up the daily news, but today, Day 24, I have a MEGALOPA!! So adorable. All gangly legs and claws--doesn't know whether to walk or swim. I started crying and shaking when I saw him, hardly dared to believe it. I have a video up on YouTube, but my hom...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pitzYWf8PxM Day Twenty-one. Three weeks. If nothing else, I’ve done that. Today was deep-clean day and I had a semi-emergency. Took almost five hours to complete because I realized (after completely wiping clean and drying it) that the left kreisel had sprung a leak....

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Thank you, @naalide! Yes, of course it's fine to link to your German forum. I've been poring over the info on Curlz website and YouTube, so it goes both ways. :D I'm at Day Seventeen now. The larvae seem fine. Minimal losses still. More sheds today but just late bloomers to Stage Four, I think. I'm ...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Today is Day Seven. They are one week old. I'm barely keeping up with everything else in my life, but the larval hermits seem to be doing well. I haven't had time to do daily updates in here(sorry!), but I have been doing my best to keep info going up on my website, at least. If you want to catch up...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Day Two: The double kreisel is working well. The hardest part about it is going to be keeping it clean. I fed three times today, small amounts, but they could (and should) have been smaller amounts even. Overfeeding is a problem I have to keep in check. Even if it seems like super small amounts, th...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

And this is a somewhat blurry slo-mo, but if you are patient, you can see a couple of zoea swim by, furiously using their legs and swimmerets, which surprised me. I didn't think they were active swimmers until later stages, but this is Day One. :)
