Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

It's like The March of the Penguins on the ramp in my transition tank. I can't keep up. I currently have 66 little ones in shells and on land (plus the two from the first batch) and more still in the water. I know they won't all survive, but these numbers are truly astounding me. I will be really in...

Re: I HAVE ZOEA!!!!!

You are doing SO great!!! I have a good feeling about this batch!! Really super excited for you--you deserve all the success you're having. You have earned it! And I meant to text you again, but those shells you sent me have been a LIFE SAVER. Or more accurately, multiple life savers. So many of the...

Re: I HAVE ZOEA!!!!!

I SO feel your pain!! Migraines here, too. All that staring into water with a bright light trying to pick out tiny, half invisible little squiggles. Maddening! (I put my shop on hold, too. This is a fill time job!) But you are doing so fantastic!! Those are some lucky little zoeae!

Oh, no! I'm so sorry. For them, but also for you. All that work and time and care! I live in fear of this happening in my tanks.

Re: Leaf litter

About 40 seconds in the microwave works, too. I place them on a plate, sandwiched between two paper towels and that helps to absorb the moisture. Then let them air dry for a few minutes. If they are still not completely dried out, you can give them 20-30 additional seconds.

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Thank you, everyone! I have two survivors on land as of today! And they have antennae!! So it's official--they are tiny crabs. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YtcQKbspqEw&fbclid=IwAR2Hhuhupkc-8ieV1RApVuGk4yFwutLE-d098nI0WwVhcdRFWWzBQ0cvMz8 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KWNyvD3Y27U&fbclid=IwAR...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

I've had three take shells and go to land. Two met untimely deaths (lots of pitfalls when you're that tiny), but one seems to be doing pretty well. Took a video of my setup and the little new guy to give a shot of size-perspective. http://maryakers.com/day-44/ I still have some stage five and severa...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

Day 36. First megalopa takes a shell and climbs out of the water onto a rock!! I am so ridiculously excited!!! In the first photo, my finger is pointing to the shell to give you an idea of just how very small it is. The other picture I took with a clip-on iPhone macro lens. The megalopa is right at...
