Re: Bath time
As for mites: I use regular strength salt water.
Surface molting: whenever a hermit crabs pull a surface molt on me, I will give them a dip in freshwater before returning them to the main tank.

Re: Bath time
Many people decide not to bath their crabs at all... As long as you have pools inside your tank where they can fully submerge there is no reason to bath them.... All bathing causes is extra stress. Hermit crabs also carry water inside there shells--- meaning that if you bath them, you could mess up ...

Re: Unresponsive 4 days, ate one day, lifeless past 48 hrs
Hermie sadly looks dead to me. This could very well be a case of Post Purchase Syndrome. I'm sorry for your loss :( Just to be absolutely positive, I would pick him up and smell him. If he's dead, trust me, you'll know. If you do decide to get another hermit crab, check out the care sheets: http://h...

Re: Crab not moving, no smell.
Sounds like a surface molt. I would ISO her either in another tank or you could use the bottle method--- cut the bottom half off a two liter bottle and you can place it around him to ISO him from other crabs. Best of luck for your crabbie
