Molting signs

Has anyone ever had crabs build caves up against the side of the tank but don't leave a window for peeking? But rather, they cover it with sand? One of my crabs did that.

Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing

My one crab above ground got peach and nectarine slices last night. Although they're on the safe list, my crabs don't like apples, cherries or avocados. But they WILL eat bell peppers, especially the orange bell peppers.

Re: Molting caves

The one that's molting right now is in a shell with a 7/8" opening so I'm going to expect him to change into a shell with a 1" opening once his exo is hardened and he's ready to come back up.

Re: Molting caves

One of my crabs just went down to molt on Friday that's why I asked. Last night, I thought I saw what was the beginning of a cave but he covered the window with sand. I'm suspecting he probably didn't want to molt there and tunneled away.

Molting caves

When crabs build big molting caves, do they do this expecting to grow slightly bigger when they molt?

My guys are preferring bell peppers but avoid the raw beef and avocado.

Re: Canned Corn

Thank you very much for the responses. It is good to know I can feed my crabs canned vegetables as I have plenty in my pantry. I want to see if they'll like peas. My crabs will also eat raw beef but I have to quickly remove it once it turns brown.

Re: Moving a tank with molters down

Thank you, GotButterflies. I'm glad I didn't say it either. I think there is a lot of tension between groups and mentioning them could cause problems. Especially if there are members of those groups who belong to this group too and you never know who will read the post.

Moving a tank with molters down

Thankfully, in my tank I don't have any molters down right now and I don't have to move it, but why do some groups tell people not to move their tanks with molters underground? I was reading a thread where people here have moved tanks with crabs underground molting but the groups that I have been in...

ZooMed UTH

I'm getting frustrated. My ZooMed UTH is crapping out on me. It keeps falling off the back of the tank. I do have another one I can use, though.

Re: Canned Corn

Thank you for clarifying. The other groups that I've been in had said not to feed anything that had salt or sugar added so I'm assuming that means canned vegetables too.

Canned Corn

I have some canned corn with no salt/sugar added in my pantry but I'm concerned about feeding this to my crabs. The ingredients say just corn and water but the label says it's not sodium free.
