Re: Gettin 45 gallon setup, many questions.

Thanks Daws & GotButterflies!! We will try that this evening. It's bad I don't wanna do nothing but play with crab stuff today....I wiped down kitchen, did dishes, but all crab stuff on table so I can organize it n then get it situated under tank in cabinet. This is so an addiction. Added a few thin...

Re: Gettin 45 gallon setup, many questions.

Got our water bowls in...I haven't silicone the bottoms in....advantages/disadvantages of this? I read someone shared it was easier to clean if not silicone? Also does the mesh just set down in the sand like that? I'm afraid might have one of my crabs go flying! [emoji15][emoji886] While hubby was r...

Re: Treating water correctly n placement of water bowls

Thanks guys for info! I'm using the Instent Ocean and have enough for 20 gallons right now (bought 2 boxes) but was cleaning out under tank and found this bottle of stuff, along with some other non approved items!! Like, water pillows?! What was I thinking....tossed out unneeded. Making 1/2 gallon a...

Re: Molt buddies gone wrong? [emoji30]

New tank is exciting! Do you have an idea of how long it'll be til it's ready? A higher temp would be a good thing. But I imagine you know that. :) I don't think you have to worry about your crabs molting together. They naturally will separate when they need to do their thing... it's an instinct th...

Re: Molt buddies gone wrong? [emoji30]

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Calcium 2inches-6inches 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they read? Have one non digital on side but I have used a Accurite digi...

Molt buddies gone wrong? [emoji30]

I'd shared about my 2 mediums coming up on Sunday (a week ago) after about 3 wks down. Both were just hiding behind a plant when I found them. They stayed hiding in the coconut hut after that most the week n I noticed no food eatin or water touched all week. My 3rd n finally baby crab is down n been...

Re: Quick molt?

This is just a follow up but yes hermitcrabs typically do the shedding portion of a molt cycle between a few minutes for small specimens around the size of quarter or less and up to an hour or more for larger specimens about golf ball and up.During the shedding phase of the molt the crab has to bui...

Re: Molting together?!

Btw, the soil supplement is worm castings. I bought a huge 20 lb bag from my local garden shop for $12! Just make sure it's organic! You can use it as potting soil. It's great stuff. Just worm poop. Crabs love poop. I'd love to be able to message you but seems it's down on here tonight. Have some c...

Also, is there a certain amount of time the water has to set treated before use? ...
