Re: Want to find shop in Canada that sells hermit crab food mixes

We purchase a lot of foods ourselves. Some health food stores sell organic flowers, herbs, leaves, and roots that are for human consumption loose. Not everything is safe or at least it's unknown one way or another. There are tons of options there. We also dehydrate fruits and veggies we buy for ours...

Canadian Chubby Crab on Facebook is the only shop I'm aware of.

https://facebook.com/CChubbyCrab/

I think @RiNiKy506 has ordered from them before.

@curlysister may know of a few store since she is lives in Canada too.

Re: Water Pools and Pebbles

Silicone is always confusing with how the manufactures label everything and what they state it is used for. Silicone selection for aquariums could probably have it's own guide. We use silicone labeled "aquarium safe". With using it for things in our shop it keeps it so much easier to keep track of i...

Re: rocks in the water pool?

Another question on rock/ stones/pebbles Those colored glass stones that are in goldfish tanks and plants and other things, are they safe to use in our crabitat? As well as in the pools in our Crabitats? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Those would be safe for in a water pool. You couldn't do thi...

Re: rocks in the water pool?

What about in the main tank? And what about minerals like rose quartz? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Stones could go in the main tank. The only problem is for as much as crabs dig and move stuff around they will become buried. Having big rocks in the substrate will limit molting area and their...

Re: 3 crabs needing a home near Ashland/Richmond VA

http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=112&t=99157 That's the information we have about shipping crabs. I didn't read through the information. Your best bet will be to ship on Monday. There is less chance of an issue and the crabs sit someplace an extra day. That happened to a la...

Re: Going Down/Molting Questions

With the heat from the lamps it will dry out. See if you can poke your finger into the sand. When you pull your finger out and there is a hole, it's good!

Re: Going Down/Molting Questions

Is your substrate mixed with dechlorinated water? Does the substrate hold its shape like if you would try to build a sandcastle ? If it doesn't the crabs will not be able to properly dig and form tunnels and caves. That's the only reason I can think of as to why a crab wouldn't dig. The two links sh...

Re: My hermit crab has no exoskeleton to eat after molt

I've even had them give them to me for free before as a sample because they were so amused it was for a hermit crab. Xeno had a similar experience about two months ago. The lady behind the counter looked at her funny when she asked for one shrimp. She explained it was for our hermit crabs. The lady...

Tonight's feeding. I included shop names from where we purchased some of our foods. If there isn't a name we resourced it ourselves. #1 Proteins and various from 1pm clockwise 1. Color Mix (Mary Akers) 2. Almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, cashews, sesame seeds, crushed peppers 3. Smelt (MT Pet Empor...

Re: Favorite foods?

Crabs are like little kids with foods. They may want to eat something all the time for a week. Then just decide they don't want it any more, or not for weeks. The easiest option is to have 3-4 different food mixes and rotate through them every other day. A lot of food shops on Etsy offer well balanc...

Re: New Crabitat-Heat Issue

Curly does bring up very good questions that can help. I'm going to take a guess based on what I saw from your pictures. You can correct me if i'm off on my assumption. The top is make out of a wood frame with wire screen stapled to it. The walls are about 12" tall (not including the lid) X 48" long...
