Thank you guys! These two have been with me since they were tiny, and I'm incredibly proud that they've molted several times and grown into really distinct personalities so far. More pics coming soon! [emoji3]

Re: Quick question about cork
The lighting is a LED light strip that came with the tank and attaches to the hood

Re: Quick question about cork
Hi Leah! I live in Florida like you. All of my tanks stay at a consistent 99% humidity, and none of my cork bark has ever molded. Even the cork bark that stays in the iso tote that I have has never molded. I don't know if it's our weather or the room I have them in, but I've never experienced an is...

Quick question about cork
I'm currently in the middle of revamping my tank. I'm planning on adding driftwood and some cork. I'm going to soak the driftwood in saltwater since it'll probably mold (and then dry it in the sun after), but what about cork? Does it mold at all under the high humidity? Or can I just pop it in? Re: Crabby introductions- picture heavy!
Thank you all for the kind comments!! I always feel so privileged when I'm able to take pictures before they scurry away. I've always liked the tank to look more natural and lush, but I'm planning on adding florals, cork and grapevine in the tank. I'll make sure to share lots of pictures when I swit...

Crabby introductions- picture heavy!
The title say it all [emoji16] since I've been here for while now, I thought it might be nice to introduce my two crabs and share some pictures! I got both crabs, Kai and Tai together. When I first got them, they looked so alike- same coloration, almost the same size, similar preferences in food, sh...
Re: 5 Months
Update: After 8 months of waiting and the opportunity to finally churn the sub with both of my crabs up from their recent molts, I dug down. Unfortunately Mona passed. I found her shell at the bottom of the tank buried and completely encased in sand along with a few ashy hollow leg segments. I'm not...

I have to say, Venus intrigues me the most. Such a stunning crab!

Re: 5 Months
Hi, thanks for the reply! I am very positive that she hasn't been coming up at all. I monitor my other two misfits very closely and all activity is from them. (they are such creatures of habit, I find them doing routine tunnel maintenance every morning, LOL!) Plus, Mona is significantly larger than...

Re: Length of Time for Molting???
Does anyone know what's the longest amount of time crabs molt? 2 of my Hermit Crabs have been underground since October. Yes, October. I'm worried they might be dead. I won't dig them up, just in case. The tank doesn't smell like anything's dead. They're both 4 years old. They have never molted for...

Re: when to start searching
I'm honestly in the same position. I have one crab that has now been under for 6 months, and I'm positive that there hasn't been any sneaking up to the surface and that she's actually molting. My heart says "don't dig!" but my brain says "there's no chance "

Re: Deeper bowls, golden vine, second level & more
That vine is huge!!! And I second the moss pit- once you make it, your crabs will probably be stuck to it like glue. Mine are always in and out of their moss pit (the little suckers always make such a mess..) You could also weave some leafy vines or plants within the holes of the second level or aro...

Re: Pools
My pools aren't the deepest, but I think they're deep enough, though. Sheldon is molting, so I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure he could submerge in them, or very close to it. The only problem is Peanut. He's little and the pools are too deep for him. I have the bottom lined with rocks, but...

Re: Shell searching.....
I had a lot of success with the variety of turbos (that are smaller in size) from Naples as well. I got my larger turbos from Etsy. You can also get lucky with some shells sold in craft stores. Usually they're sold in bunches containing decorative shells with a few acceptable turbos. Sent from my iP...
