Re: Nutrional yeast

Yeast is good to eat and drink heres to beer and bread. For as many dead carcasses and poop piles these crusty bugs rummage through i would think if its utilized properly yeast would be good for something. Dont be surprised if you are digging in substrate one day and find a crabby brewery. :D Thank...

Nutrional yeast

I'm wondering if nutrional yeast is safe for hermit crabs. It's not on the safe list, somehow I feel like it would benefit them.

Re: Found hermit

Wow, Debbie. How random is that? I'm a tad jealous, but happy the ltitle darling found you. Wonder if it's parents know that it was outside playing?

Unrelated, but my sister just got back from Haiti, where hermit crabs were on the beach. Oooohhhh, I would love to see them in that environment. :)

Re: Adding substrate & questions about pools

well, yesterday I saw Scrundles climb into one of the pools for a drink and the ladder didn't even wobble, so apparently I am just a paranoid anxious crab momma [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] still might reconfigure things but at least I know they can get into the pools safely Sent from my XT1635-01 u...

Re: What do your crabs enjoy?

So you let the leaves get all dried out before putting them in? My Duck really likes coconut flour. MI Mi used to love snake skin, and she would hide and eat it. I gave them ground oyster shells, for the first time yesterday and they ate it all. I have found also, that my bunch will eat much more i...

Re: Adding substrate & questions about pools

So now that both of my crabs are up from their molts (yay!!) I want to add more substrate. I've read that when they are down, you can add 1in per day as long as you don't pack it down. How much is safe to add if no one is molting but they are underground (as mine usually are during the day so I ass...

Re: Emergency questions answered.

That's awesome! :) Some of my crabs have come up a bit pale, then darkened up later. Some stay paler till their next moult. I don't worry about colour because it's so variable. There's a whole complex reason, involving energy storage, moulting phases and exo pigment, but suffice it to say she's lik...

Re: Correct heating method

Yw! I agree...this is a great crabbing community :) With these zoomed heaters, tape well too back and side above substrate. Got it. Should all zoomed heaters be toward one side? Cut out a hole in the reflectix so it won't cover the heaters? Will this help keep the heat in? Sent from my XT1030 using...
