Can 3 hermit crabs fit in 10 gallon tank? I want 2 hermit crabs but if there are 3 at the store--I'm buying all 3. Don't want any crabs to feel lonely.
If they're very small. But if medium, then really only 2.

Re: New and excited owner

I looked into that and was actually very surprised it was such an affordable camera. Last night my guys trashed the place  woke up and there was substrate covering their food dish. Also. A question about prime. Is there a way to make sure it is actually removing the chlorine? I'm surprised jus...

Re: possible aggression

I recently introduced 2 new crabs to my crabitat. After initial weird interactions setting up the pecking order they seemed to be doing well together. I was looking at them and I noticed one hidden under a fake plant but his shell was turned over. I lifted the plant and a bigger hermit crab scurrie...

Re: Hello, I'm a new but broke hermit crab owner

Welcome!! Sounds like you're doing the best you can for him with what you have. Just a couple of things. Is his substrate sandcastle consistancy? That helps with humidity too but they need it for their tunnels and caves. Ditch the sponge, it harbours bacteria. You can change his food every 2-3 days....

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Oh nothing, just being little piggy crabs, that's all! I put a few bits of cinnamon cheerios in the food bowl this afternoon to see if they would have any interest and almost immediately they were both at the food bowl! One carried a whole cheerio away to snack on it elsewhere and the other plopped...

Are they being fed calcium and protein daily? How deep is your substrate?

Re: Possible tunnel collapse what do I do now?

It's hard to know. If the cave/tunnel collapsed she needs to be dug up. If you find her molting gently dig her up with the substrate under her and place her under a hide. If you have another crab she will need to be isolated. Someone with more experience may give different advice.

Re: There’s mites crawling on my Halloween crab and he’s suffering help

I did a search on here for mites and found this. I copied just part of the post. The best way I've found to get rid of mitesis... wait for it... more mites. Predator mitesare species of mites that eat other mites(and other tiny insects) but not your crabs. They've been used in gardening to control a...

Re: Left for Vacation humidity down to 35% and crab tried to resurface

How many crabs do you have? Are you sure the sub is dry all the way through? If it is, I think you should take them out and place them in a temporary hold with moist moss while you re-wet the sub. Just don't overwet it. The humidity should increase quickly. What is the temp? When it gets to 65% humi...

Re: Looking for lightweight turbo shell with 2" opening

Ken Lipe at The Shell Store in Largo, Florida is awesome! Their website is tough to navigate. If you call and talk to him he will more than likely be able to hook you up. Tell him the roller coaster guy that was at Crab Con sent you. We got on a lengthy discussion about coaster there since he and h...

Re: Jelly legs?

Are you referring to the upper section of the leg? It looks normal to me. A freshly molted crab will have a pink tint. It doesn't look like that to me. It's pretty common for paler colored crabs to have that coloring toward their body. I wouldn't worry too much. They usually know when it's safe for...

Re: Jelly legs?

Maybe his exo isn't completely hardened yet. They look shiny from the pics. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Make sure they have calciums to eat. That is important for them. It helps with their exo. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk That's what I thought but was worried. No one is ...
