Re: Molting in a Moss Pit (With a catch)
Ok. I also hope the moss pit isn't too compact, because I noticed that it looks very compact.

Re: Surface Molting out of shell, and in the stage where it can’t move
I think the fact that the enclosure is two gallons, is more important then the need to fight over whether heat lamps are harmful or not.

Re: Surface Molting out of shell, and in the stage where it can’t move
Dude, heat lamps can be a valid method of warming the tank safely. We aren't a dictatorship, there is no "approved" anything here. Heat lamps are heat lamps, they all work the same way though some variations have more cons than others. That’s a good point. I used to use a heat lamp, but it became a...

Re: Molting in a Moss Pit (With a catch)
Also if anyone who reads this has had a crab molt in the moss pit, how long does it usually take compared to a regular molt?

Re: Surface Molting out of shell, and in the stage where it can’t move
I think you made a mistake putting two gallons for your tank size. If that's the case, this whole situation is completely different

Re: Surface Molt Or Dying?
I have cuttlebone, eggshells, and lobster exo for calcium. I don’t think food would help her atm tho, because she’s still hiding in the hut, seeming very lethargic. Who knows if she is actually surface molting or just very lethargic. It’s weird because my first crab who had PPS was relatively active...

She isn-t completely limp. Her legs just looked wobbly and limp compared to an active crab

Re: Molting in a Moss Pit (With a catch)
He would usually go in there for at most only a few hours. I am almost certain he is molting in there.

Molting in a Moss Pit (With a catch)
I have a crab which has currently been in a moss pit for over a week. I know he is not destressing because I've had him for 5 years and nothing bad happened to him. I know crabs sometimes molt in moss pits but I have an issue. My moss pit is quite small. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/prod...

Tunnel Collapse Caused by a Drop?
I recently dropped a hard cover book right next to the tank (it’s normally on the kid to prevent escapees) Could this have collapsed one of my molters? They have been molting for a month now so it would be right in the middle of their molt. I notice a little bit of the moss pit “jumped” a bit.
