Whoops! I thought that always because usually, I see pictures of wild crabs with very small abdomens compared to our crabbies.

In the wild, crabs have shells wayyyyy too small for them, and they cope fine(usually). Their abdomens will just not grow if they are in a shell to small. It would grow if and when the crab changes to a new shell.

Don't worry; that is more like an average time to molt. My crabs went down about that time, and they didn't come up yet. I hear them screeching on the glass against the tank, so I know they are alive. That is an average time to molt, at least with my crabs. They can take up to 8 months to molt! That...

If you can, you should get the exo out of the main tank and with the surface molter if I comprehended your statement correctly. They need to eat the exo for calcium to help harden their new exo.
