Re: Fashionista shell snobs

Same here. I immediately thought this was so cute and laughed, but i totally see your struggle. You're a great crab momma though! I'm sure they really do appreciate the nice fancy shels :D :D

Rajah took a new one i bought from amazon, and Sebastian took Rajah's old shell about a week later. I've been searching f...

Re: safe wood list? Safe shelf?

i'm still having trouble finding the safe wood list... can someone help? i've looked under food and water, crabitat conditions, and DIY forums... Wode mentioned in her response that it is in the safe foods list. All the safe woods are included in the list. There isn't a separate page for them. Sent...

Re: Building a Crabby Paradise

A little fun from last night. The kids loved introducing the gang to their new home. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170508/6b632f9f095a4592325042736870da10.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170508/c2edc3e75c8df42579ed0bb32fb15725.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Is the entire top half ...

Re: safe wood list? Safe shelf?

The safe woods are listed along with the safe foods. :) I know some people do use those shelves, and rust by itself isn't harmful so long as it the right kind of metals. Not sure those are rhe right kind. Also, the shelves end up in a rough state pretty quickly, and if you have a larger bored crab ...

safe wood list? Safe shelf?

Where is the list for safe woods to place in the tank for climbing?

Also. I've seen a couple of posts about these shelves being used... has anyone used this? It looks metal, those aren't safe right? Has anyone used anything similar that's safe for crabs?

Re: Added a topper to my 100 gallon!

Well...I finally did it. Yesterday I got around to adding the knock off exo terra large tall tank to my 100 gallon tank which makes my tank 167 gallons now. I added Oak branches, a large piece of Cholla, Pipevine from my organic garden, and some plastic plants. The crabs were actually exploring it ...

Re: New tank set up!! Pics

Thanks y'all!! The pools are just plastic bowls with some rocks in them, nothing fancy. I searched all over Wal-Mart for craft mesh but I couldn't find it so I just went with the rocks for now. I'll add at least another brick of EE next week, I'm ordering things paycheck by paycheck. I have 3 bricks...

New tank set up!! Pics

Hey yall! So I did a complete remodel of the tank. I realized that they obviously didn't like the sand I had, and I wasn't digging it either because it was a bag of play sand from walmart and I felt it smelled bad. Boyfriend couldn't smell anything but I didn't want to take any chances! I also bough...

Re: Hermit Crab Crunchies

Commercial foods being a big problem.... does this count for The Hermit Crab Patch mixes? I looked at them online and they have plenty of options, plus some calcium (which i'm not sure what it's used for if someone could explain? all the reviews said their crabs loved eating it, so it's just another...

Re: Climbing wall problems

Command hooks do work very well for when I hang fishing net and fake vines. I just leave them hanging if they aren't being used. I had that same type of mat you are talking about and used suction cups to hold it in place. As LadyJinglyJones said and I experienced the suction cups would always pop o...

Re: Climbing wall problems

I like command hooks. I've also purchased untreated oak dowl (very narrow diameter), drilled holes all along it & then drilled holes in the plastic rim of my tank. I use zip ties through the holes in the end of the dowl to secure it through holes in the rim. Then any thing I want to hang I can do s...
