Re: My food rotation

Wow this is really awesome!!! [emoji106]: Your crabs are super lucky to have you as their mama. My crabs really enjoy eating fresh grass and dandelions (yellow), they also enjoy eating carrots (My crab scuttle was really pale when I got him, but with a healthy dose of carrots he got his color back ...

My food rotation

So, I finally was able to take pictures of each meal and label them. I posted these on Instagram to share what I feed every night. If yall have any suggestions (rearranging to meet all needs) let me know! I THINK I've got a decent amount of diversity for each night, but i might not. Lol Theres alway...

Re: 80 gallon bow front upgrade!!!

Thanks! I thought of those but I hadn't sat down to find the thread, thanks for linking it! I finally finished the lid yesterday! It's not plexiglass, its egg crate, but I was able to make a hinge type lid that was easy access and I didn't have to load 15 things to hold it down lol. I'll post a pict...

Re: Marine hermit crabs from beach!

They are thin stripes and if you can get them back to the beach take them. I rescued two of them from HCA members about 6 months apart because they got brought home in shells. They grow quickly, are aggressive, and need a complete marine tank setup. They are fully aquatic. I think the only reason s...

Re: Marine hermit crabs from beach!

Well, I have to get to bed. Work comes early in the morning!! I put them some beef tripe and shredded coconut in there, hopefully that's something they'll eat. One is already comfortable in the deep end of the water, and another was starting to dig into the sub. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2019...

Re: Marine hermit crabs from beach!

YEARS ago a friend of mine brought some home from the same beach. A quick google search and some items from walmart, I was able to keep them alive for about 4 months before we brought them back to the beach. I was living in a SUPER TINY apartment and they smelled! It probably didn't help that I kept...

Marine hermit crabs from beach!

My boyfriends mom took his sister to the beach today. They know I have hermit crabs, but they've never really learned much about them. They assumed it's the kind from the beach, so they brought me 4. I quickly explained the difference, but the beach is over an hour away! I wont be able to get there ...

Re: 80 gallon bow front upgrade!!!

Woot woot. Congrats on the upgrade, looks fab! I really like how you zip tied wood to the background, thats a really cool idea. As for gauge on the substrate, sometimes the moisture from the sand can affect the reading - especially if sand gets into the part where the probe is! - or cause it to hav...

I'm not 100% finished, I still have to add the shells into their shop but here's what we've got so far! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190425/1636362d3f475f03cfb99e323c467e71.jpg This lid is temporary, I've got to figure out a...

Re: Plexiglass lids

Lol yeah, I estimate about 2 days before they destroy it! Any recommendations on where to place my accurite? Right now it's just sitting on the sub, front middle of tank. I've got a second reader in the left front corner, it's a small corded thermometer only that goes with my digital one the UTH is ...

Re: Plexiglass lids

So, with the price of plexiglass, I dont think we are going that route immediately. I totally underestimated those numbers. I would have ended up spending about $100 for the lid, which isnt a bad price but I also have to reinforce it so it doesnt warp and fasten it down all around. So, for right now...

Plexiglass lids

Hey yall! I want to cut a plexiglass lid for the 80 gallon. Those of you with plexiglass lids, do you have anything on top holding them down? I'll have a light on top, but I dont think its heavy enough. What do yall use?
