I'm going to buy at least 5-6 bags just to be safe

Sand In Crabitat

I am planning on filling a 40 gallon(not a breeder) tank with sand and EcoEarth. How many 50lb bags would I need to buy to fill 6"? Do I need to buy more than one or would one 50lb bag be enough to fill up to 6"?

Hermit Crab Shells

I am getting ready to boil a bit of the shells I got. I have a few turbo shells for my precious PP's and I want to know if any of the others around the turbos would ever be used by the crabs. The two lower middle shells, just above the white shell are two turbos. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...

Re: Organic Potting Soil

My best friend, who we will simply refer to as J, has picked up four hermit crabs from PetCo today. J called and explained to be that she got EcoEarth, which wasn't enough to fill her 20 gallon with 6" of substrate and asked me what to do. I am unsure of what exactly to do as I'm new to keeping the...

Re: A Good Look at my Pools

These are so great! I want to make some bowls for my crabs like these, but smaller. How large are your crabs? I have seven crabs, and my largest one is four and a half inches, which is the entire width of my palm :) Here’s a photo of the pools in the tank. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180429/...

Re: Outdoor Materials in Crabitat

Well, you really need to be aware of what can have pesticides or any fertilizers on them, they aren't crab safe. What type of moss? Hermit crabs can have sphagum, new zealand sphagnum, spanish moss, and more! The gravel should be fine, just wash it really well. I personally would boil it for a shor...

Outdoor Materials in Crabitat

I have loads of untreated, natural things in my yard that I want to know if I can use in my crabitat. They include: -Moss -Gravel -wood/bark Notice: •the gravel will only be in one area of the enclosure, where food and water bowls are to prevent dragging the EcoEarth into the dishes. •The wood Will ...

Re: Successful Molt!

My smallest crab, Tamatoa has come back up from a good molt! She’s been under for three weeks, took a while. No longer the smallest crab now, she’s bigger, different in color, and has long toenails! Haha, wow! I hope my crabs make it if they're molting. I'm going to guess that they are molting, sin...

Second Level

How would I go about adding a second level to my crabitat with something I can find here at home?(ex: large plastic container, plastic storage container tops, etc..)

Re: Hermit crab in a hamster ball

The worst thing I saw today was a woman with a hermit crab out in public in a hamster ball!! when the ball rolled, the crab was tossed around and the woman was busy talking, ugh. Finally, I picked up after it rolled far away, taking the poor thing out The lady snapped at me with,"Hey!! that's my he...

Re: Help with top level

You have a lot of space to fill! For my 135, I used branches as supports. A whole tree actually, trimmed to size, and then additional branches as highways for them. You can see it better in the last photo which was when I set the display case up. Best of all it was totally free! For second levels I...
