Re: Sudden drastic humidity drop?!

I have a mesh lid and about 80% of it is covered in plastic. I’ve had it that way since I got the hermies and humidity has been 75-80% consistently since then. I switched to eco earth a few weeks ago and it looks like the bottom layers have dried out. I’m not sure what type of hydrometer it is, but...

Most of my crabs like whale eyes and shark eyes they’re light with “D” shaped openings for shells..they’re always touchy feeling those.. my one prefers his turbo but I thi...

Re: ??

Hello!! I also had trouble at first. My picture shows PP and E standing right next to each other the E is in the painted shell. Look at the beady eyes on the PP and longer eyes on the E that’s how I can tell. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180822/7c51e17492cb79ccf430e3f6cf55a32c.jpg Sent from my...

Although, you may want to cover that wheel in plastic mesh, the crabs can snap off a leg in the metal mesh.

Re: Humidity

Once you have a hygrometer and know what the humidity is, you will then know what else you need to do. I don't have a moss pit or bubblers, and I rarely mist my tank. And my humidity is consistently around 90% or more. What do you do to keep your humidity up without bubblers and moss pit? Whatever ...

Re: How to handle a bacterial bloom?

Bacterial blooms are usually caused by oversaturated substrate, or slightly overmoist substrate that had something seed the growth. (Food buried way down, or a crab that passed, another time I had one with a divided sand/cocofiber tank when the cocofiber got washed under the sand.) You can remove j...

Re: How to handle a bacterial bloom?

oh man!! Good luck and i'm glad you noticed it before it got to bad. I'm interested to see what others have to say as far as controlling and handling a bacterial bloom as well. I personally like the bags of EE rather than the bricks because it mixes far better, but the bricks are more cost effective...

Re: Mixed Sea Shells from Joann

the shells are not bad at all, ive bought the mixed bags and and found 2-4 usable shells. use a coupon and it's even cheaper. what i do with the left over is i just donate them to a senior center or school for craft supplies. :)
