I never see 2 of my crabs eat either....but I know they do cause pieces of food are all over the tank or chunks of food is missing from big pieces I put out. As long as he’s still alive that all that matters.

Re: Climbing Toys???
Some people have similar vines in their crabitats, but they are made of 'foam' overtop of wire, and eventually the foam can breakdown and come off with the heat and humidity. Cholla wood is a popular climbing branch, as are nets (sorry, can't recall where to get the proper nets at the moment). I'm ...

Re: New Crab Owner here! Crabs went underground
Update, First one came out ( the big one ) after roughly 10+ish hours? Went straight to the food bowl. A dine and dig!! 2 of mine do that nightly they’ll dig in for most of the afternoon then as soon as the tank lights go off they come out and chow down. I can hear the tapping on the glass. Keeping...

Re: Crabitat done!
You can add 1" of substrate once every 24 hours as long as you don't push it down, or move items. (You don't want to collapse tunnels). I hang all of my wheels upside down by using command strips :) I personally love the kaytee silent spinners. :) Aha! Thanks will totally do that!! Sent from my iPh...

Re: Crabitat done!
Looks great! A few things I recommend with the Es - a minimum of 10" to 12" of substrate. Once that minimum is met, then you can make changes in height with the depth. I'm sure you have heard me recommend the two proteins a day as well as a couple of different calcium choices. :) If you really want...

Re: New Crab Owner here! Crabs went underground
Hi happy crabbing. I know how you feel, I’ve recently have just stumbled into hermit crab care. I have 4 and and when I first got two they did the exact same behavior as you described and stayed down for about a week. My other two didn’t do the whole destress thing and just hang out and chill. They ...

Re: What to do?
3 of my 4 just went down today and basically dig right next to each other. I’m hoping they don’t collapse each other’s cave.

Dining in and then digging in!
Just an eat and dig for my guys tonight. They just got into an upgraded tank. I caught one eating his fill then claiming his spot. I’ve noticed that they basically want to dig their caves right next to each other. Is that okay? One even tried to hop into a cave while he was digging and he got knocke...

Re: Thin shell question
My Es like touching and feeling whale eye shells. I’m going to look for more of those. They don’t even look at any type turbo shells. I’ve noticed some of the turbos can be kinda heavy especially the bigger ones. Good luck on the shell hunt.

Re: Crabitat done!
I started with a five gallon with 2 medium crabs, bone-dry substrate, 5 mm deep pools, and no humidity or temperature in the recommended, and I thought I knew so much. I know! They store people made it sound like they didn’t need very much! At least when we got them home I DID know to at least get ...
