Re: Almost finished molting?

I just checked on her, and what I can see is that her colors look really vibrant and her purple claw is a very beautiful color right now

Re: Almost finished molting?

Shes been down for maybe a few weeks now, and I think shes between a smallish mediumish crab... I caught her moving a lot earlier and i havent seen an exoskeleton yet, but she might have already eaten it. I havent been watching her because she was molting and I didnt want to disturb her. I just hope...

Almost finished molting?

So my hermit crab Puddles, I have discovered that she is moving under the sand and I can see it moving. Does that mean shes almost finished molting? Shes managed to dig all the way down to the point shes hitting the glass so I can see her under there. I also hear weird scratching noises occasionally...

Re: We have a molter!

Lots of honey, protein and calcium is what most crabbers recommend. Is your crab molting on the surface or underground? You shouldn’t be able to watch the whole process. A lot of crabbers believe that is a sign something is wrong with tank conditions. You should invest in more crabs once she has fi...

We have a molter!

Puddles has started to molt and i'm so happy! What is something that would be a good food treat for her when shes done molting? Also, since there arent any other crabs in the tank currently, when would be the best time to introduce new crabs into the tank after shes done so she doesn't get lonely? I...

Re: Dead or Molting on surface?

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Play sand with the coconut stuff mixed in a 1:6 ratio. It is 6 and 4 inches in some places, its not completely flat 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what tempera...

Dead or Molting on surface?

One of my hermit crabs, Bubbles, is under a cardboard box that I temporarly have in my tank. He or she is halfway out of their shell, and is not moving. I don't know if they are dead or not and Im kinda worried because their on the surface and not in the sand. I dont smell a fishy smell but I need t...

Re: My Crab is being petty. (a small rantish thing)

While expert Crabbers are here, ive read that you can give egg shells to the crabs for calcium. And if that is true, must the eggs be boiled to give them the shell to eat, and does that little thin membrane have to be removed? Or can I just crack open a raw egg and give them the shell that way?

My Crab is being petty. (a small rantish thing)

I had to give my hermit crabs a bath today because they had a bunch of sand all over them and a little inside of their shell (I don't know if thats the right thing to do but I did because I know I wouldn't like sand all over me) (and dont worry it was salt water with aquarium salt and dechlorinated ...

Re: Update on my crabbies

So I got the new tank finally setup, and when I put them in there they were very curious, but as soon as I put them on the sand they immediately came out of their shells, it was really adorable. They are currently in the little cardboard box I have in there, and I will hopefully be getting some dec...
