Re: Possible Upgrade?
Thank you! We ended up getting the tank, and it's currently sitting in our basement, waiting patiently to be filled. I have a few things I'd like to include. Are these good ideas? -Longer pieces of cholla wood -A second cocohut -A spider plant (or some other live plant since I've had problems with t...

Possible Upgrade?
I'm so excited! Today my dad surprised me by saying "Oh yeah we're going to pick up a bigger tank later." And we just assumed that it was a twenty gallon (I'm currently stuck in a tiny ten-gallon with two small-medium crabs) When we checked the dimensions, it's a 29 gallon! I'm so excited, even thou...

Re: loud boi
Yep, mine do that too. All night. I don't think there's anything to do other than just wait for them to molt. He may just be climbing, and occasionally just fall a little bit against the tank. That's what mine do.

Re: Pools/Glues/Roly polies
To answer your question about how far the decor should be from the top- If you have a good glass lid, I think that the decor will be fine as long as it doesn't actually touch the lid. In my tank the fake plant and climbing vine get pretty close to the top, and the closest escape attempt we've had is...

Eating Fake Plant?
I was sure that there's another thread like thins on this forum, but I can't seem to find it. My family recently went away for a few days, and when we came back, my dad pointed out that someone had been picking at the fake plant. I had read on the other thread before this to check for any scraps lef...

Re: Pica Shell or Not?
Thank you for the advice! My crabs do prefer striped and tapestry turbos! I'll be sure to save this order for the future though, it's such a nice shell!

Pica Shell or Not?
I was Christmas shopping for my crabbies on Naples, and I came across a beautiful banded Pica shell that's just the right size range for my two purple pinchers. But for one shell it costs eight and a half dollars! I read around and concluded that although turbos are preferred in captivity, Picas are...

Re: Dead or starting to Molt??
I'm pretty new to this, and I'm not well researched on Es, but since nobody else has responded yet I'll try my best. The first thing I'll say is that from what I've read, Es do best with a species buddy in the tank. Also, people on this forum recommend a minimum on 6 inches of sub or three times the...

Re: Non-molters covering molter’s holes
I'm pretty sure that it's ok if they cover eachother's holes. Back when one of mine was molting, the other covered her hole. I had the same doubts but she came back up despite my worries. I'd have to guess that their holes get covered all the time in the wild.
Re: Honey
I give my crabs honey every day. Sometimes they eat it all and sometimes it remains untouched. I don't think there would be any harm in just giving it to them all the time (please tell me if there is!) Other than that sometimes organic honey is expensive.

Re: Pale crab?
My guess is just that he hasn't molted in a little while. He should become darker after his first molt with you. Congrats on the new addition!

Re: Does botlede drinking water requires conditioner?
Most likely, because different bottled water brands tend to add trace amounts of minerals to their water. I'm hoping someone more experienced in this will step in and help!

Re: Crab Falls Compilation
Haha, that's so cute! It's also reassuring, because I'm always paranoid that mine will fall off of things in my tank and get hurt, but now that I see all of your crabbies getting up and being totally ok I'm less scared. :) I take it if they were that hurt they wouldn’t do it again. I could be wrong...

Re: A Determined Crab
Oh my goodness that's so funny! Mine do this too but it's far less funny because I break the cuttlebone in half.
