Re: My crab has scratchy black spots on it.

Hi there! First, I’m sorry you’re juggling sick crabs. Second, from looking at the second and third crab’s picture, I would say that almost definitely the second crab is infected, and probably the 3rd as well. As mentioned above, if they’re all infected you may not need to iso them all until you beg...

Re: What is your crabs favorite food?

Mine love- in all 5 tats- this stuff called Fiesta Fruit Salad. I can’t recall which seller I purchased from on Etsy, but there are a ton of items to check out on there. But that one is by far the #1- I need to reorder actually so I’ll let you know from whom when I find it! Others are dried burning ...

Re: Crabs barricading opening

Looks like you have some super adorable PPs! I love when they’re so tiny and sweet. I have them that size all the way up to Jumbo now, including 3 different species, and I still can’t get enough of them! They’re sooo addicting! There’s always something to improve and work on for them, I just love ev...

Crabs barricading opening

No, if they decide to hang out underground for a while it could be to molt, which they do usually need to do soon after coming home, or it could be to destress. This just means that although they are very glad to be in their new home with the things they need, they also need to be left alone to reco...

Re: How often can you change the “furniture” in your crabitat?

Mostly depends on the crabs, totally agree there. Because they are all so different it really will vary. I’d just watch their reaction after a big change and get an idea who loves it and who doesn’t, who is curious and who runs away to hide! You know what I’m saying here I think. I have some crabs w...

Re: Shell heaven!!

Thanks y’all! I know I was excited, and these were gathered over several gift shop stops! I finally looked one up for on the way out of town, and if you’re ever in the OBX definitely go to one of the OBX Shell Store- that’s the actual name, go figure. They’ve got tons though, and some great stuff fo...

Shell heaven!!

I just got back from the beach, where I was able to collect all the shells I was missing fr my various sizes, but primarily for my Es and Jumbos. Anyway, got shell envy? I would! A few of these are getting shipped to RiNiKy, but they’re mostly mine. Fellow hermit friends I just had to share. https:/...

Re: More hermie wheel fun & a crab fight

Your videos are so cute! Maybe someday Brutus can find a friend he gets along with! Poor guy, wonder why he guards everything so crazy! It’s funny but I can see how disruptive it would be to a colony if even just one acts like that all the time. Good call on his own little crabby haven! Also, I abso...

Re: Hermit crab sitting in same position for days??

How can you know that you’re avoiding any like bug eggs and stuff- do you do anything else to the leaf litter? Sorry to jump in, but I’ve been wanting to do this too but it freaked me out about bugs!

Re: 2 Crabs from Boardwalk... Temp Tank... 1 Molting... Thoughts/Advice Appreciated!

It’s partially personal preference, but there are some issues to be aware of with the EE that happen less with some sand mixed in. Nothing beats sand for a sandcastle- there’s a reason they’re still made out of sand! [emoji39] Kidding. Point is, we do recommend the 5:1 sand bc it does hold its shape...

Meet part of the newest of my crew- one Jumbo and 2 XL; Princess and Mr. S are Pp, and the third is an Indo who is unnamed at the moment. (Mr. S hides in the log a lot.) Enjoy! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/bfd611bbb519854746d8c08f207ca187.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/e5...

Re: Tank to Crab Ratio

Personally I would go with as many gallons as you can afford for them at that size. Many say that a 55 is the minimum size for them just to have space to move freely! However, it’s safe to bet your crabs are a large to extra large size. My jumbo has at least a 6” span, prob a little more! In summary...

I think this is soooo exciting... I hope everything works out as it should and we can have little strawberry babies in the future! How incredible that is. Maybe I missed it but did you share the pic you did manage to get of them mating? I’m just curious. [emoji6] Thanks! [emoji3590]Dave the Wonderc...

Re: Questions for those who use UVB (or know about it)

You can't, unless you have an expensive (around $225) meter to check for UVB output. That's why the bulbs need replaced on a set schedule for safety, as testing has shown 6 months to be a good period for normal brands, and 12 months for Arcadia. In hermits, it's not deadly for them not to have it t...
