Re: There’s mites crawling on my Halloween crab and he’s suffering help
I did a search on here for mites and found this. I copied just part of the post. The best way I've found to get rid of mitesis... wait for it... more mites. Predator mitesare species of mites that eat other mites(and other tiny insects) but not your crabs. They've been used in gardening to control ...

Re: There’s mites crawling on my Halloween crab and he’s suffering help
I already know what kind of mites they are and that they’re harmful. Nobody has an actual camera that is meant for taking really detailed photos, just basic phone camscurlysister wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 11:25 amIs there any way you can borrow a phone with a good camera and post a photo?

Re: My Halloween crabs lethargic and can’t balance or get off his back
One thing I want to note is that this crab died only about a month after I got her and she came from a really stressful and possibly terrible environment. She was springing back to life towards the end and I was almost sure she would be completely better the next day, only to find out I was complete...

Re: My Halloween crabs lethargic and can’t balance or get off his back
Are these the same crabs that you had in October, or new ones? Or some of each? If new, do you know what kind of conditions they were in before you got them? When did you get the 55 gallon up and running? Did the crab surface molt? From what I have read, they should bury just like hermit crabs. Als...

My Halloween crabs lethargic and can’t balance or get off his back
She molted last week and didn’t eat her exoskeleton so I took it out and been giving oyster shell calcium supplements and coral calcium. The regrowing legs still aren’t hard and it’s been a week 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? coconut fiber and it’s 4 inches plus m...

Yes I had her separated a few days agoaussieJJDude wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2019 12:52 amDropping limbs usually suggest they are weak and stressed. Try to cut down on stressors, or even separating the crabs? As long as tank conditions are good, I'll just monitor and hope that she pulls through.

Re: MY HALLOWEEN CRAB IS BUBBLING AND HER LEG FELL OFF
I was asking because you asked why your crab was still dropping limbs. if your crab is dropping limbs due to environmental stress, which seems to be the general hypothesis, then its health/condition isn’t likely to improve unless/until environmental conditions are improved. I feel very terrible abo...

Re: Using sink water with BRITA water filter?
If you ask the fish store, I'm sure they have some type of water dechlorinator, even if it isn't Prime. I can't imagine they sell fish and not a dechlorinator to go with them. What have you been using all this time? I buy the 500ml bottle of Prime because I have a 40 gal aquarium too, and it usuall...

Re: Using sink water with BRITA water filter?
I’m curious if there’s a reason you’re resistant to buying a dechlorinator/water treatment product? Some concern we can help address? Buying a bottle of Prime will cost you a fraction of what pre-treated water from a fish store will cost, so i’m honestly not trying to challenge you, just trying to ...

Re: MY HALLOWEEN CRAB IS BUBBLING AND HER LEG FELL OFF
Have you been able to check the temp/humidity, correct those if necessary, and correct the other issues with your set-up? I’m still working on a bigger tank and something for humidity besides just spraying the tank with water, which doesn’t seem to give them moisture for very long. I don’t have tim...

What if I just get freshwater from the fish store?aussieJJDude wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2019 1:03 amNo, not always. To put it bluntly, there's different types of purified water and they each have different methodologies that in effect, remove different stuff.
