That's true, we always seem to have an upgrade in process or planned.

Re: Shell evac from a almost limbless crab

I hope with the q tip feeding multiple times a day with protein, calcium, and honey your crab should be fine. If he's in an iso he should molt soon and regrow the limbs. It will take a lot of time, but with the appropriate amount of sub the crab could be another example of a success story. Sent from...

Re: Finding the poop in the substrate

I have had my crabs for over 9 years, and have never changed out the sub completely. I have added more when I upgraded tanks and as the crabs have grown. I don't scoop out poop. Ever. I suppose I was thinking of the poop as more of organic waste that would break down like compost and just become mo...

Re: Where do you place your shells?

I place all my shells around their water pools. I have plastic mesh attached to the pools as well but the shells act as a step to climb on and also as a popular place to commune.
I tried a "shell shop" for a few weeks but none of my crabs ever changed shells.

Re: Finding the poop in the substrate

I don't think it hurts anything to let it go. Possibly if it was left for years and years it could cause an issue. I often wondered since crabs love to eat poop of other animals and eat their own exos. Would they eat each other's poop? Dogs do it all the time, why not crabs? I've thought the same t...

Re: What is everyone's nightly/weekly routine?

I clean the water dishes every 2-3 days. And the food whenever the dish is empty which is normally the same amount of time. I rotate what I feed them so they don't get bored I guess lol. But I do always have calcium, protein, and veggies available. Really my only "routine" that I do daily is turning...

Re: Humidity Issues

Add air bubblers to your pools. That really helps with humidity. I didn't believe it until I tried it. My humidity is now at least 83% with them.

Should I dig up my molter just in case?

The crab on the right is currently molting, his full exo is next to him and he's very pink and soft. The crab on his left I thought was also going to molt as he's been laying down there just as long as the molter but I'm unsure now that he's standing up. It's been a little less than 3 weeks since th...

Re: New and excited owner

I use water testing kits for both salt and fresh every once in awhile, and the 2 drops actually work. I even bought a cheap plastic eye dropper to be more accurate.
