Re: What is this?
I get dried sea salt where my uth is. But it's not that thick, I'm able to scrape it off with a chopstick. Is this the first time you've noticed it?

Re: Welcome COENOBITA CURIOSITIES (T-SHIRTS)
Will do. How are the nets and cubes working out? Hopefully your crabs are using everything! They are even more popular than I ever thought possible. The first day I put the cubes in, the popcorn was gone before 9pm! Weeks later and they still empty it every night :o Of course the nets are wonderful...

Re: SURVEY! SHELLS
Nice to see you back! wondering where you had gone Personally I leave them all on the surface. I actually keep a note in my phone where I count and document my shells monthly to make sure the crabs don't bury them to the bottom of the tank

Re: Humidity/temperature emergency in 55-gallon
After a flood in my 30 gallon I upgraded to a 55 with bubblers in my pools which cause a fair amount of splash back. To combat that I bought a heat mad and attached it to the wall where I keep both water pools. The pool cover the side wall completely and so does the heat mat. I placed the mat so tha...

Re: New crabs. Mites
This post was a little further up the page: "She said she started with 2 then rescued 50 from a boy that got them through a fair or something. Then they started dying and she discovered the mites on dead crabs. That’s when she decided she couldn’t care for them." I hate fairs/carnivals that have li...

Re: New crabs. Mites
I was going to leave them in a bare bones tank but I changed my mind after seeing their behavior. When first given correct salt water, fresh water and food with wet paper towels as sub and hides for them. It was like watching suicide runners. They went into the saltwater flipped onto their backs an...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment
Oh Lord I'm scared! Give me some time to mull this over, I have 9 crabs who I can no longer keep track of. I don't know who's who anymore besides the few who have really striking colors. I am at least very interested in this experiment and I believe that it is beneficial! Sent from my cp3705AS using...

Re: New hermit crab owner
You can give them raw meat? I have been so worried about feeding them meat after i cooked it. Yupp I think they like it more raw anyway. That's how they would naturally find it in the wild ya know? Sometimes I'll throw in some raw chicken fat and they go straight for that when the lights go off! No...

Re: New hermit crab owner
Yeah any area that's not seasoned is safe, cooked or raw. And yes raw eggshell is safe as well, I think the crabs even like it more because it has raw egg on it too lol You can keep the shells for as long as you want. Crabs are scavengers so rotten food items won't hurt them.....just stink up your h...
