Even though they currently have significantly less substrate than they should?

Re: Ideas for decor?

It looks a lot more homey! I feel like creatures from nature appreciate a natural-looking setup. :D

Re: New to molting - need reassurance!

I know your struggle. I worry every single day that I don't see them above-ground. I also wonder how they can go so long without eating, drinking, seeing the light of day! My new crab has only been buried a week and I'm already panicked. But one of the care sheets said something that really stuck wi...

Re: Dreaming Crab?

That's super cute! I've wondered that myself. Its said that they dont really have the mental capacity to experience things like that, but honestly, how could we know that for sure? I like to believe they experience life very similarly to us, so I think they feel emotions and daydream and even love. ...

Adding Sub with buried crabs

Hey crabbers, I have 2 crabs I've had a few weeks now. I vastly underestimated how much substrate I needed, so I currently only have about 4" in my 10gal tank. I want to get it to a minimum of 8", especially since my large crab Clef looks like he wants to molt. I want to make sure he has the right d...

Re: Question about owning new crabs

Thank you for the help with identification! I'm happy regardless of the species, but now I know to stick to PP preferences!

Re: Question about owning new crabs

Its difficult to see in the pictures, but he has that tuft of hair by his claws, and hes considerably paler on his underside vs topside. His eyestalks look different than my last crab, which was definitely a PP. He is very purple though. Honestly I could be wrong, I'm new to crab identification too!...

Re: Can I do a tank topper

I decided to try adding a topper, I had an old fish tank laying around. I'm not exactly sure how many gallons it is, but it was NOT the same size as my existing tank. With some help from boyfriend and his tools, I carved this out of some spare wood. The smaller tank can rest on this and cutting out ...

Re: New babies

I do have my two UTHs insulated. My insulation covers the whole back and one side. I think one of them is too small, I should probably replace it with a larger size. Are the ultratherms insulatable? My house gets quite cold in the winter, so I need to be able to wrap them. I'm relieved to hear that ...

Re: Ideas for decor?

I'm a fan of more fake plants, especially vines, and varied-length cholla wood put in at different angles/inclines. I especially had fun crafting some platforms and a connecting bridge out of popsicle sticks. Looks nice in the tank and gives them a second level :D You could also put up a climbing ma...
