I have a 10-gallon, working on a 5-gallon topper for some extra room. I really like your clamp-style light, especially having the timer function different light settings. Do you have it ray down from above, or coming in from a side?

Lighting suggestions
Hey everyone! I am looking to buy some kind of lighting for my crabs. The room they live in stays pretty dim, and two sides of my tank are covered in insulation over my UTHs, so I'm concerned they aren't getting the right light cycle. I'm looking for something that sits outside of the tank and does ...

Question about owning new crabs
I recently acquired two Es. When I put my largest one, Treble, in the tank for the first time, I gave him a quick dip and set him on a raised platform off of the sub. He crawled straight into a coco hut on that platform, probably to de-stress. The problem is, he has not moved from this spot since I ...

Re: Big holes in sub
I would want to smooth out the holes for aesthetic reasons (and I like tracking overnight movements), but I'm afraid of messing up their tunnels!

Re: New babies
As far as temps - I let my temps go up to 86, but never higher. Es definitely love the warmer temps, and the PPs don't mind it either. Just make sure the humidity stays up there too. :) My humidity is ridiculous, I can't get it to go lower than 90 xD But my temp is always just shy of 80, despite ha...

Re: Spider Crab!
When I brought home my first crab and put him in his tank, I placed him on this popsicle stick bridge I made. He immediately scuttled to the side and started walking over the edge. I panicked and was like omg hes gonna fall and wreck himself, but thankfully before I could try to stop/"save" him, I w...

Re: New babies
Am I okay to add more than an inch a day if all residents are up?

Sorry to revive an old post, but does that stuff hold the shape you bend it into? And there's no metal in it?Hermielover121 wrote:Yep it was actually really flexible and easy to bend

Re: New babies
I got some extra sub for the crabbies, but now one of them dug down! I'll probably wait to add it until he reappears. I've seen that you are only supposed to add an inch of substrate at a time - does that only apply if someone is buried? Or do they get mad if previously-built tunnels get screwed up?...

Re: New babies
I attached the E care sheet, if that helps at all (you probably viewed it already though). What I've learned is that Es require more heat, sub, humidity, and climbing/running room, as they are more active. I had an E and he was with 3 other PPs (one about his size and 2 smaller) and they all seemed...

How do these debates usually end? This is my first time owning more than one crab at a time, so I'm nervous about aggression or bullying.Motörcrab wrote: Our biggest E, Gunshow and biggest purple, HHH get into some heated antenna debates, but not much more.

Re: New babies
I'll definitely have to pick up some more sub. I underestimated how much I had and how much they need (8"+ vs 6" for my last guy). I'm new to using coco fiber, as I used the Hermit Beach mix exclusively with my first crab. I misunderstood the mix ratio, so I need more sand. Sent from my SM-G930T usi...
