This shouldn't be a problem for me, we have meat and plant proteins every day ourselves and I am happy to share!

I keep cuttlebone in the tank all the time. I'm researching more calcium options today.

Does this still apply in my case of one large crab and one pretty small crab?

Re: New babies

According to the care sheet, your substrate should be deeper, more like 8-10" instead of 6". Apparently they like to tunnel and dig up molters. They also like temps at 80°F +, while PPs do ok at 75°. That's all I can think of for now. [emoji4] Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk I hope this...

Re: New babies

Also keep in mind, though, that being more active makes it easier for them to get into trouble. We’ve had several members report streaking (they prefer to run than hide, and dropping their shell can help with a quick getaway) and cannibalism (find weak crabs more easily) from them. New babies

After mourning the loss of my first hermit, a purple pincher named Maui, I eventually decided I was ready to try again. I picked up a couple today, one tiny and one that's quite large (I am hoping he's nice to my little guy). Due to general distrust of pet store employee advice, I didnt ask many que...

Re: Molts are nerve-wracking!

Same here! I just constantly fret about if his tunnel collapsed, or if he got too cold, or was just old (I have no idea what his age is), or if he had enough calcium, or if he is remembering to change his underwear. But I always feel a tiny glimmer of hope every time I peek into the tank! Good luck ...

Re: What's wrong with my crabs?

It seems like you have their major needs under control. Do they get enough calcium and protein in their diets? They need both of these to have a solid healthy molt. Do you offer plenty of fresh and salt water? You covered a lot of the info already, but we may be able to better assist if you fill out...

Athena is a great name haha! [emoji16] I love all the mythology names. My dog's name is Zeus, my goldfish Poseidon, my tortoise Athena, and I used to have a betta named Thor and a platy named Jupiter lol. Don't worry about writing back, studying comes first!! Re: Crabs haven’t molted in6 months!

The white fuzzy type mold that grows on bits of food is harmless to the crabs - but can bother humans if allergic to molds. This is good to know, I was out of town and my fam forgot about my poor little dude, so his walnut and sunflower seeds were also covered in that fuzzy white mold and I was so ...
