Fishers using hermit crabs as bait!
I watched one of those videos ONCE and it still stays with me. Now I can't even click on anything like that, it's awful to see it. There are so many sad videos out there.

Please Suggest Edits for a 2012 Crab Caresheet!
Hello all crabbers, Jedi Master Thrash is going to do a revision of his 2006 caresheet found on this link: http://home.comcast.net/~JediM...icHermitCrabCare.htm. He asked for any suggestions you all might have to make the caresheet better or more updated for current crab care - thanks to any who res...

Sesame has a little hole in his back O.O *Pictures ADDED*
I'm not entirely sure that this isn't hole in the head disease as it did occur after a molt, but at this point I would just keep an eye on it and see what happens.

We have an archived thread on 'hole in head' disease. Let us know if your crabby's injury looks anything like that.

I trust the opinions of our two former Admins who gave me the information. Too, this is somewhat of an emergency case where you have to balance the odds to give the crabby a shot at healing completely. I would personally avoid clove oil for the crabs as I think it's a lot stronger-smelling and could...

I definitely think they mean the aquarium salt (the stuff you're using already for the crabbies). I hope it helps your baby! I always have tea tree oil in our house too and dab it on my face for headaches, the stuff is awesome. My crabs love unsalted nuts (specifically pecans and peanuts) and they're...

Escape - here is the message I received from them:"Hi Nicole! You can pass this message on...good salt water bath with a couple drops of tea tree oil in a calendula decoction. Simmer calendula for 20 minutes, remove from heat, mix in sea salt...let cool completely. Strain out calendula, then add a f...

I have a message out to the two original creators of the medicinal bath about your crab, Escape. Waiting to hear back from them - hold tight and just keep using salt water for now!

A crab will normally drop a limb too damaged to use. I would not consider amputation because of the stress it would put on him.How is he behaving today?

I am sorry I missed your post yesterday Escape!I would continue to do the baths every couple of days but dab the infected spots with a Q-tip soaked in salt water daily (it won't hurt since you're not bathing in the salt water). You can also use a small syringe and squirt some salt water in his shell...

I would also highly recommend not using tetracycline. Try the concentrated salt water now and see what happens. Somewhere in my house, I have a recipe from the Crab Care book for a tea that helps crabs with infections - I am at work right now but can look and PM you tonight if you like.Did this happ...
