KING OF PRUSSIA, PA

My name is Ashley and I am looking to adopt a companion or two for my crab instead of buying. I had my crabbie-kid pair for several years and unfortunately one passed. I am looking for a small/medium companion or two as that is what I have space for. I am willing to travel to Philadelphia or any surrounding areas of King of Prussia.

I have had crabs for many years and presently I have a 20 gallon aquarium set up. My crabitat is set up with a day/night light cycle, a climbing wall, salt water and fresh water pools, heat mat, shells, and hides, etc. Along with fresh foods, I have a selection of 18+ dried foods that get rotated to offer lots of healthy varieties.

I'm looking forward to giving someone their forever home!

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ

Several months ago I purchased 2pp for my kids without doing research. Immediately I did the research and now I have a ten gallon tank with eco earth, fresh and salt water, extra shells, and places to hide and climb, in addition to a heat regulated isolation tank with a similar set up. Unfortunately, after waiting fourteen weeks for our new friends to join us, we determined they had not survived.

Technically I am a first time crab owner, but these guys seem to be the perfect pet for my temperament. I am willing to travel up to an hour to ethically obtain two or three new crabs.

Be well. :)

CHESTER/MONTGOMERY COUNTY BETWEEN PHILADELPHIA & READING

I'm willing to travel about an hour away, but I could be convinced to travel a bit farther. I'd also be able to travel to central PA around the Williamsport area, as I frequently visit the area for family.
I have a 58g converted curio cabinet that you can learn more about here --> https://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/p ... 9&t=121128
I've been keeping hermit crabs for more than a decade now, and I have 3pps. I could add up to 3 more pps to my enclosure, and I can be contacted by PM. :}

NOTE: I have successfully adopted 2 more crabs, and am no longer looking. Moderator, please delete this listing when you get a chance. :]

SOUTHEASTER PA, NORTH OF PHILADELPHIA

Southeaster Pa, north of Philadelphia a bit. A month ago two hermit crabs came home with the kids from the shore. Within a day only one was left. We learned alot, got a 10 g tank and I think the basics. I appreciate all the info on this site. It has been helpful. Now we need some company for "Sandy" and would like to adopt another instead of adding again to the sad trade in wild hermits. I think what we have is a purple pincher, a medium-small size. Willing to travel 1-1 1/2 hours to meet a crab in need of a home.

SOUTH NJ CLOSE TO PHILA AND DE

Currently live in Southern NJ about 45 minutes away from the shore points, and I am willing to travel the entire state of NJ, as well as up to 2 hours away to a surrounding state (PA,DE,VA,NY,etc).

I have 5 PPs in a 60 gallon, with plenty of room to spare. They have 12” of a 5:1 mix of playsand and EE, large 5x9 inch fw and sw pools with bubblers. Their CRABITAT is full of enrichment, with cork logs, cholla wood, large 2nd floor moss pit, lots of hermit safe plants, coco hides, a hanging coconut filled with moss, and a large shell pit on the 2nd floor that has shells they like to forage through. Also have chia sprouts growing in my tank that they love to walk through and eat! Heat is at 82degrees, dips to 80 at night, and has an 80%humidity that remains stable during the day and night. They are only fed organic, fresh foods, as well as fresh dried food from Hermie’s Kitchen.

I have had my 5 PPs for 5-6 years and they have all molted with me numerous times successfully. I have even had a mass molt where all of them went down at the same, and several molts back to back. I have never had any aggressive behavior or issues in my crabitat. :cheer:

I am willing and able to adopt/re-home up to 4 teeny/micro crabs, 3 small crabs, and 2 medium to large crabs ( my largest is about the size of a golf ball).

If you would like to know more, message me!

MANASQUAN, NJ

My siblings and I have had HCs since we were young. Unfortunately they've been split up because my sisters took 2/3 of them to CT. I have a friendly purple pincher here and would love to give him some company. I'm in Manasquan, NJ and willing to travel. I also travel up to Newark area often.

Location (nearest large city, state, country): Wilkes-Barre, PA
Is the largest area, but I live in Berwick, PA which is a smaller more rural area.

How Far Can You Travel?: 50 miles
Size of Tanks, Number of Crabs, and Species: I have one 10 gal tank with 5 small and 1 medium/lg Purple Pinchers
How Long Have You Been Crabbing?: Not very long, only a couple months as of today.
What You Are Able to Adopt?: I would only like to help out if someone needs to rehome or it's an emergency, I'm not currently actively looking.

I have 2 hermit crabs need a home!!

I live in seven valleys pa this is by york and I got a hermit crab over the summer I was someone who didn't know anything about them but after getting one in a surf shop at the beach me and my husband did research and learned how much work they are .

We brought our crab home and had best of intentions , we purchased all the things needed for a proper crabitat and bought two more crabs as companions , sadly one crab died so now we have two and after a few months realize we are still out of depth and just to be honest do not want to continue having crabs. We would feel better if the crabs were rehomed to people who know how to care for them and enjoy them as pets. If interested please reply

SOUTHWESTERN PA (NEAR PITTSBURGH)

My name is Deb. I live in Southwestern PA, near Pittsburgh. I am willing to travel 1.5 hours to pick up HC's who are in need of a safe place to call home. I am willing to split shipping. You can contact me at whitewoodD at gmail.com.

I have been caring for HC's for over 18 years. Now my big kids are in college and my 8 yo son and I enjoy the crabs a lot.
I have four tanks. (110g, 90g, 75g, 65g) Currently I have 29 crabs, PP's and E's. Each of my tanks has at least 6" of playsand/EE mix, bubblers in the salt & fresh water pools, plenty of fake plants to crawl on, moss pit, climbing logs, coconut hides, play wheel, fresh & dried food daily, and plenty of extra shells of all different types in each crabitat. Humidity between 85-95% and temperatures controlled by thermostats on the Ultratherm UTH's. Each tank has a UVB light inside the tank as well.

The folks at each of the local Petco's know me by name and call me when they have someone drop off HC's to be adopted out. I have also told them they can give my email address to clueless patrons for me to help them properly set up a healthy environment for their crabs. I have been asked by two local pet rescue organizations to set up tables during their events to educate folks about caring for HC's.

Finally, I maintain a crabitat in a preschool. I aim to educate the children (and their parents) about the true needs of HC's before they go to the beach and bring one home unawares. One preschooler talked her cousin (well, probably the cousin's mom) out of buying a hermit crab at the beach one summer because of the care she was able to tell the family that the crab would need. :cheer:

So if you are in need of a safe landing place for your hermit crab, please feel free to contact me.
Happy crabbing...
Deb

Need a home for 2 small crabs

Post by wyglos@gmail.com » Tue Dec 08, 2020 12:19 pm

Hi, My name is Lindsay and we currently have two small hermit crabs that are in need of a home. We have had as many as nine crabs at different times and my children are grown out of the fascination so I'd like these crabbies to have a good life for their remaining days in captivity. I hope you're still interested in caring for more crabs. Please respond if so and we can make arrangements. Thank you so much for your willingness to help us take the best care possible of these little guys.

Hi Lindsay,

Sorry for the late response.

I am waiting on an adopter who also has 2 small hermit crabs to let me know if he still wants me to adopt them.

Have you found an adopter yet? If not and something falls through, I will let you know Image
