Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

This area is dedicated to the pioneers who have captive bred crabs, and for those who wish to learn more or attempt it themselves. Also for inquiring about the gender of your crabs.

Eggs are on the right side, above her abdomen, a dark orange color. I'm expecting her to drop on or around the 21st, got a kreisel set up. Fingers crossed. :D

Thank you, everyone! And huge thanks to all those who have so thoroughly documented the process while making their own attempts, successful and otherwise--it's all been incredibly helpful. I'm trying hard not to get too excited as I know the likelihood of getting them to land is small, but it has to work sometime, right? And even an unsuccessful attempt adds to the all-important knowledge base.

This is my rudimentary setup for eggs. I haven't gotten another visual to see if the eggs are turning gray yet, but I'm ready, just in case. Also quite sure she still has them as she hangs out of her shell when resting. They must be somewhat uncomfortable.

I will also have a jar of replacement Instant Ocean in there for water changes so the temps are the same, but no need to add that yet. And behind it is the siphon tube which I will also keep with saltwater in it, up to temp. I need to practice siphoning. It's been a while. :P

Yeah, it didn't for me, either. I was experimenting. It should show up now...?

And this is my attempt to make it easy and inviting to drop your eggs in the saltwater pool. Long, narrow pool, rocks to create a shallow entry, light bubbles, shells leading up to the pool, and after this picture I put some additional greenery around it so it feels sheltered. For my personal benefit, I moved it right up against the glass so I have a clear visual of the water. We should be at ~ Day 19 or 20.
