Awesome tanks! Really like the connecting tunnel. The skeleton is a nice touch. Your tanks are so clean & organized.

You did an awesome job on the tanks. And your idea to make a theme specifically for each tank is ingenious! I love the whole idea of one tank being just 'beach' and you really pulled them together well.

I think Wodesorel's crabs saw your tank and that's why they made the run for it. lol

Eeeee! Look at those little claws! And those EYES! I am absolutely in love with your babies! And I thought my viola babies were small! (I was so wrong!)
I love your tanks :) I'll be keeping the connecting tube in mind for when I have my own place one day ;) I hope you don't mind if I steal your idea!
Your big violas are beautiful :) no wonder they made such pretty babies! :D
Thank you for all the info you've contributed! We make a big, big deal of hermit crab babies. Yours are amazing :D in 5-10 years when my violas are all grown up I'll probably try to copy your setup and have my own babies! But for now, I don't have enough money. Or space :P

thank you all :)

I have edit my links above. Because, the access to our german bulletin board is not working if you are not a member. In my breeding document you'll find the first pictures of the first hermits left the water to stay on land.

I took all "baby" pictures and videos (from my german bulletin board thread) and put them into an folder on my picture-book. I have tried to upload them sorted by stage of development. From leaving the water and climb to land, till today. Last picture was taken some days ago.

The baby crabs are so tiny, it completely blows my mind away! I wonder what they will look like when their colors start to come in.

My collage. All 15 breedings. Pictures taken in April 2012.
I don't like to take them up, for taking pictures. But I try to document their grows. All of them are sitting on a 5 x 5 quad paper at this stage. To show how small they are.

Are some of these still alive?

Wow!!! It'll be interesting to see if they are violas (which I agree seems most likely with that striped claw :) ). I wonder if possibly they could be hybrids as well. It will be so exciting to see what happens as they grow! :)

:)

Unfortunately they are so tiny, even in this small talk it is hard to find them. It's like a spot the hermit game.

And, like the big ones, they changes shells. They are molting, hiding and so on. We think there are still min. 10 alive.
All noticed things points to viola. I don't believe in a hybrid theory.... as long as a conspecific is available there is no need for nature to take another sort. (But this is only my opinion!)

oh I am excited too. I try to take pictures constantly. But I will not take them up too often.
In their first days I can't take the tiny shells up. Too small for my fingers ;o)
