Different legs?

Post by rufeelinitnowmrkrabs » Fri Jan 25, 2019 1:09 am

This is probably a silly question but I’ve been meaning to ask it for awhile!

Image

Why is one leg so smooth, and the other so hairy? Is this normal? He’s been like this for as long as I can remember! (I’ve had him for around 8-9 years) could it be from molting?

Sorry for the bad picture. I didn’t want to disturb him!

The leg on the left in the photo is his shield leg. When they pull tight into their shell, that is the leg that locks the opening down so nothing can get around the big the claw to get to their less armored body inside. It is smooth and differently shaped for that purpose.
