Question about using net.

This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

Question about using net.

Post by HHIhermies1004 » Wed Aug 29, 2018 8:34 pm

I used fish net to make a climbing apparatus and canopy for my guys. I found one actually using it and for a little worried he might get tangled and trapped. Has anyone had accidents using fish nets? Is it best not to use it? Here is a picture so that you can see what I did. Image

We have been using the same nets for over a year with no stuck crabbies, yet. We mainly use it for access to their mosh pit! What I did is zip tied the loose areas tight around the container. That way if someone wants to crawl up the backside of the net they won't get stuck between the net and the container.

My crabs hang out at the top of my tank on the net all the time. No one has ever been stuck

I heard of a crab getting stuck one time - and that was because the net had been double layered. I don't recommend double layering it.

I have never had an issue.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

I never double layer mine.
One of my crabs did get his leg segment caught in one of the strings, so I unhooked it from his leg and was fine :)

Thank you guys for your input I did think about double layering it so that I could weave in fake plants better but I'll scratch that idea now. I ended up pulling the net tight and my crabs are not having issues with legs getting caught anymore.
