New owner here. I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 hermit crabs. Coconut fiber is the substrate. Not sure if I need a heater or not but our house temp is generally 73 degrees in the summer. If I were to get an under tank heater would I stick this to the back side of the tank or the actual bottom? The tank sits on a wood dresser.
Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to the HCA!
Yes, under tank heaters must go on the back or side of the tank instead of underneath, as you want to heat the air, not the substrate.

Re: Heat Question
Yup, it goes on the back. It’s easier to manage the temperature if the heater isn’t covered by several inches of substrate.
If your house drops below seventy degrees Fahrenheit during the winter you’ll definitely need a heater by then.
