Missing crab?

Post by PeekaBoo2013 » Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:24 am

Hi all! I've had hermit crabs for about ten days and this morning I went to check the tank and can't find my little guy. I looked in the hiding places. I looked around the edges of the substrate to see if he buried, but if he did it must be towards the middle. I don't even see any place on the sand where he would have went it - but I know they back fill? His shell he was wearing is not anywhere to be seen either. My question is should I be worried he got out??? Or is disappearing normal? I have a 15 gallon with mesh lid (it has suran wrap to keep in humidity)Image

Don't worry. I'm sure he just dug down to de-stress or molt. Or for fun. I freaked out when that happened to me in the beginning. When you say he must be toasted, what did you mean? Where is your heater placed? And if he is molting he could be under for months. Just resist the urge to dig.
