Upgraded to a 29 gallon today!

Post by KristenL0522 » Sun Aug 11, 2019 11:19 pm

Hey all!! I got 2 hermies on an impulse buy at the beach and realized they needed much more care than I initially thought. Had them in a 10 for a few weeks but I was afraid the substrate wasn’t quite deep enough so I thought well I need to fix it while I see them both out. I decided to look into getting a bigger tank while I was at it and Petco has their aquariums on sale 50% off so I went with a 29 gallon!! I’m so excited about the extra room they have. I think I have 2 small ones so they have lots a extra room! I recently got some new shells for them and one has been changing in and out of them. He is so funny. Hopefully now I got it all set up and I can leave them alone! Lol i got some netting coming into and some good food. Then I should really be set
This forum has been really really helpful in the journey we’ve been on and I’m so appreciative of everyone here!!

Looking great! I'm sure they'll love the extra room!

You and the crabs will be happy with the 29. We recently set up two 29 gallons too. I think the 29 is the almost ideal size. It's a great balance for having ground space, deep substrate and room for climbing!

It looks great! You’ll be happy with the 29, it’s a great size tank. Share more pics of your crabbies.

Thanks y’all!! I’m so excited!! I’ll try and get more pics of them!! Flounder has been out more but Scuttle has been hiding a lot. I think he molted a few weeks ago so he’s still recovering. I hope anyways.

what kind of thermometer/hygrometer is that? I've been looking for one just like that! Do you mind telling me the brand?

That's a ZooMeds dual gauge. We tried several of that particular type but the hygrometer side would always stop working and constantly read 99% for us.

We have had much better luck using AC from Lowe's. They are much bigger in size but both cost around the same, around $15.
