Hey Moto - almost a year later... how’s the coconut fiber holding up? Did they pick at? Mold?

I’m highly considering this for my revamp....

It has been holding up great so far! We did have the tank retired for a few months or two then got more crabs for it. I'm not sure what brand of Coco fiber we actually used though. We haven't seen any mold form and so far no crabs have shredded it. We did use a lot of zip ties to secure it in place.

That’s great to hear! I assume the UTH is behind it? No heat issues right? (I’ve never worked with the fiber yet).

Yep. The UTH is on the rear wall. The egg crate adds a little buffer between the glass and Coco fiber. We haven't had any issues with heating that tank.

Oh nice setup! Glad I found this. Gave me some ideas. I want to add a background but was worried of blocking some heat. I still might try to leave some unnoticed gaps.

Amazing idea! It looks so superb! I might try it when I upgrade, even though I'm not exactly the creative type  !

If I do this with egg crate do I need to cover the background with the coco fiber or can I just let the use the egg crate to crawl on?

You can just leave the egg crate for them to climb on.
