Crabs + Species Identification

Post by IMS08 » Sun May 26, 2019 12:29 am

Hey Everyone! I've been a long time member of the HCA but haven't been active for a while so it's great to be back! I took a short break from crabbing, (a few months without crabs) until I went to petco and saw exotics that I couldn't resist saving (against my better judgement of course, it's not recommended to support a chain store.) I live in Wisconsin and exotics aren't common at all. I know my crabs aren't pp's and believe they're Ecuadorians but can't tell. I've posted the pictures below of two of my crabs, and would love name ideas and identification. :) ImageImagerImageImageImage

I May be wrong but they look like they are Es
I have had pets in the past, but my family can’t have any furry or feathered ones due to allergies. I usually try my best to help and currently trying to set up a crabitat. I also try to treat others with Love!❤️

Those are teardrop-shaped eyestalks, so Es.

Edit: Spelling.

For Es, I personally recommend the following:
At least 10 gallons per crab
At least 10-12" of substrate (regardless of the size of the crabs)
At least 2 proteins a day - and calcium available at all times :)

By following these protocols, I have never had issues with my Es :) Es also prefer warm temps I keep my tanks 80-85. :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com
