Long Wait

Post by AwesomeHermit » Wed Jul 25, 2018 10:46 am

My E has been down for a month and a half. I counted the other times he molts, he averages 1 month and 15 days. Should I be concerned?

Goodbye my little E. See you soon.
Bye Fred. You lasted almost 4 years with me. Hope you're with my E now! See you soon Reeba as well. I can't believe I lost you only after a month.

They’re going to spend more time underground as they get bigger, so probably not.

Nope. Times vary. You should not dig him up, so just keep waiting.

It’s hard but be PATIENT :) As said above, as they get bigger and older they will take longer to molt than the little ones. Even then, time is all a guideline.
Pet sand isn’t fun but something all us crabbers generally have now and then lol

Doc he went down the 25th of May. He would be estimated to come up the 5th of July. Now it is the 26th. He is the smallest of my crabs.

Size doesn't matter. Molting times can vary. There isn't a set time. Just be patient. I know it's easier said than done :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

It really doesn't come down to size all the time, it can, but not always.
Be extremely patient, and don't worry to much about the E :)

That is true, my biggest molted more times than the others, and I’ve had him less

On more than one occasion I have said to my husband 'this time I am sure that Cher must be dead, she has been under for too long'.....only to have her resurface a day or two later! LOL!

I'm there with you!
I adopted several E's in a 10 gallon tank on June 30th, and am waiting for the last one to come up so I can move him to my tank. I'm not certain he's still alive... I am not sure if moving the tank could have collapsed his molting chamber or what.
just waiting...
