My crab changed colors!

Post by Xenocrab » Mon Nov 05, 2018 7:27 pm

My Little Chicky has always been a light color, peach/pink with a bright purple big claw. She just came up from molting and she's almost black! Very dark and I thought I somehow acquired a new crab that I didn't remember getting! It's her for sure, but she looks completely different! Is she ok? Do crabs just up and get 10 shades darker? This is her before pic. I'll post a new one when she comes out from hiding in the cholla. Should I be concerned? Have I done something wrong?Image

Hello :) A crab's color is determined by what they eat :) She is fine! You are feeding more color enriching foods! :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Not experienced with this but I’ve come across quite a few posts where crabs changed to a very dark color post molt

This is Little Chicky. All grown up and 10 shades darker. Almost overnight. They grow so fast. She doesn't look like herself at all!ImageImage

Wow! She is gorgeous, I love her color! It’s crazy how they can change color so drastically.

Spoiled crabbies! Bison Liver, chicken poop, pumpkin, green sand, buffalo chicken, plankton, anchovies, wild salmon, dandelion, Gerber daisy petals. The calcium pit is oyster shells, lobster exo, egg shells and snake skin. I added a nut bowl tonight too. Almonds, walnuts, pecans and sunflower seeds. ImageImageImageImage

So pretty and definitely bigger!!! This is why I’m starting to get so confused between mine lol...they go down small and come back and look so big!

Mine did this as well.
Jarvis before molt: Image
Jarvis after molt: Image
Friday before molt: Image
Friday after molt: Image
Funny how that happens!
Two amazing PPs: Jarvis, who has been with me since 7/14/18, and NewCrab (still unnamed) since 1/11/21!
And a tortoiseshell kitty: Delia

I'm still pretty new to this and I'm trying to learn all I can!
