Crabitat 2.0 (from a 20 gal to a 50 gal)

Post by LeeHasCrabs » Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:04 am

Pretty excited to share this with everyone here. I feel it’s as much yours as it is mine since I have borrowed a bunch from everyone’s posts and you’ve answered so many questions of mine.

I finally finished upgrading and transferring my crabs from their 20 gallon home to their new 50 gallon. It’s been such a blast setting it up and I hope they love it! 4 of my 5 crabs are transferred. Sadly, my fifth one hasn’t been seen since September so I’m not sure what I’ll find.

For this one though, the temp/humidity gauge has gone up since. I had the top exposed for some time getting it ready so that’s why the levels are trading low but they’re all back up now.

I hope the crabs love it as much as I do. Pics and video below.

This looks amazing! Congratulations on the upgrade! I'm sure the crabs are going to love it.

I really like the skull idea I've seen in a few tats, although I'd be too afraid to put one in my own, haha. Imagining just seeing hollow sockets staring at me in the middle of the night...

Looks awesome. I wonder if they'll enjoy the see-saw....

Like all the foliage though.

Thanks! Yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see. If they don’t I have some other stuff to replace it with.

That looks really good! I like the plants as well. I'm assuming you plugged in your UTH this time!

And actually I ordered two 11x11 Ultratherms for each end as well in case I ever need them.

Thanks everyone for the kind responses. Sadly, while excavating my 20 looking for my fifth crab, I found the little girl and as I suspected, didn’t make it. I haven’t seen her since September, so I suspected she didn’t make it.

Still waiting on them to discover and try out the hamster wheel. How long did it take for your crabs to discover it for the first time? A couple have discovered the teeter totter. They don’t use it intentionally but will use it to go from one point to the other and aren’t scared of it. I’ll post some video when I get it.

Some of our crabbies discovered the wheels in days. Others took weeks. There's always somebody on a wheel. We have 4 wheels currently.
