Confused by this behavior

Post by aslansgirl89 » Sat Dec 07, 2019 5:12 pm

Does anyone know what my hermit crab is doing here? She just got out of the saltwater pool for context and immediately started turning herself over onto her back and rubbing her claws together and stuff like you see here! I am very confused. Tia! Image

Also, both of them appear to be eating the eco earth that I just added. Is that OK?

We caught one of our baby crabs doing that the other day. It looked like he was trying to be a cricket! I'm pretty sure its a way of grooming sand off their legs similar to how we would rub our hand together to wash them.

Eating Eco Earth is fine. I see mine picking at the substrate all the time.

Sounds about right motor. I’d bet she’s just wiping herself off and getting that shellwater tucked away

Also, yes, it's fine for them to eat the EE.
